William Shatner and James Spader are fresh from their second consecutive Emmy wins, the show has a strong new lead-in, and ABC has given the program an unprecedented 27-episode commitment. They're off to a running start.   |

Photo ?2005 ABC, Inc / Carin Baer."?Boston Legal"? is blessed with a strong cast of characters and the acting talent to match, but the actors are quick to acknowledge David E. Kelley for their success. During the September 18th Emmy broadcast when William Shatner took to the stage to accept the Best Supporting Actor - Drama Series Emmy for his portrayal of Denny Crane, his acceptance speech praised the show's Creator and Executive Producer. "David, I admire and respect your great talents. Thank your for the opportunity of working with people [such as] James Spader and the whole cast, the people behind the scenes, the writers and everything." He also thanked his wife, Elizabeth. <p align="center"> When James Spader received his Emmy last week as Best Actor ia a Drama Series, he started out with a thank you to his mother, and another thank you to his mother because he said he forgot to thank her last year. Then he went on to say that although his father never saw "Boston Legal,"? he thought his father "might have liked it. He wouldn't have known what the hell to make of my character, but I think Bill would have made him laugh. He certainly would have had an enormous crush on Candice Bergen - and most of all, I think he would have liked David Kelley." James Spader went on to say that David is a "wonderful writer."<p align="center"> <p align="center">Above, David E.
