Seriously, I have been a Bill Shatner fan for over 30 years, so you feel like family to me and I am extremely proud and excited for you! Congrats Bill! You definitely deserve to be nominated because, well, you're Denny Crane. All that you have to say is, "Denny Crane." Truly I think he is a great character and I am very happy for you to have the nomination. I was born the same year as Star Trek and can literally say I have been a fan all of my life. I too am an actor/writer/director and have been influenced byyour work in each of those fields. Thank you for so much entertainment and teachings through the years. Congratulations, Bill! I can't tell you how happy I was to read the news today about your nomination. I'm going to be at the "Conversations" shindig at SAG o­n Monday, and I'm looking forward to your first-hand account o­n being nominated.
You were superb o­n "The Practice", so much so that they built a whole series around you (oh yeah, and that James Spader kid, too...who also got nominated as lead actor for "The Practice".)
You guys make a great team, and you gave a very compelling "can't-take-your-eyes-off-him" performance. The combination of David E. Kelly's writing and your performance, no wonder you're up for the Emmy.
Looking forward to the new series. Keep up the great work, and I'll see you Monday.

Congratulations Mr. Shatner (I would feel funny addressing you as Bill). As someone who grew up watching you in Star Trek re-runs (with my father, also a fan of your work) on our local independent station in the 1970's, I have long been a fan. Unfortunately, because of my work schedule I never got to see your appearances o­n "The Practice" but I will watch if the opportunity ever comes. Also, I just want to take a moment to thank you for all the enjoyable movies and tartelevision appearances and series you have made. I cannot tell you how much of an influence it has all had o­n me. Between you and me and everyone else here, I have seen Star Trek IV so many times with my father, that we both know every single line, of every character, throughout the entire flick. There is a line near the end of the movie, when the Bird of Prey has crash-landed into San Francisco Bay, where Scotty says "Captain, there's no power to the bay doors". For all of the years since the movie came out, my Dad has used that line to reference people he thinks are crazy, like a weird lady who lived downstairs from us many years ago. He says it, as best as I can reproduce here, like this: "There'ss nooo powwerrrr to the baayy doorrrrss." LOL. I hope you enjoyed that little story.

I have a story to share.....
My friends have a 21 year old down syndrome child who was talking up until she was 6 years old, then suddenly quit talking altogether with the o­nset of autism. At 21, her autism renders her inattentive to activities and people around her and has left her with o­nly two words: EAT, PEE.
Her family enjoys videos in the evening and the autistic child is believed to be somewhat aware of the movie but to an unknown degree. o­ne evening the family finished watching Star Trek, The Voyage Home, which contained a San Francisco scene wherein Kirk had words with a cabbie.
For whatever reason, the austistic child hurled someone's softdrink across the room. Her elder sister sternly confronted the child and told her to go pick it up. The autistic child loudly replied with perfect inflection: "Double Dumb Ass o­n you!"

Really it's between you and James Earl Jones , i'm English and we don,t get "The Practice" on the BBC or any other terrestrial channels that I know of and I only really know you as "Matt Stone" "Rack Hansen" "Martin Pfieff" and that James T Kirk chap, but, looking at the entertainment that you have provided me over the years (much more than James Earl Jones , though he did do a good film with Robert Duvall where they played long lost brothers and the Darth Vader thing) I think ( in my opinion ) you deserve it. I thought, well since Bill is going to do the show, I will watch it, however, it did not take me long to see what you were doing with the role and developing the character and I was hooked as were millions of others. and that book was awsome and are you going to appear o­n any of the star trek enterprise episodes in the near future i would love to see a time traveling episode of interprise when they time travel to the future and meet with captin james t kirk but i really do love your star trek books alot i hope theres another o­ne coming out becuase that keeps kirk alive even though it is just in the star trek books . and i would also love to see your star trek books put into new star trek movies except they would have to have some o­ne else play doctor mccoy since he past away
