has been hitting the convention trail with great
enthusiasm, but he always keeps energy in reserve
for Creation
Entertainment's Annual Grand Slam Convention
in Pasadena, California. This year was no exception!
The convention took place just one day after
Bill's 71st birthday, and he was incredible!

<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">The
air was electric prior to his arrival on stage
Saturday afternoon. Maybe it was leftover birthday
cheer, maybe it was the L.A. crowd, maybe it
was the fact that this was the 10th anniversary
of Grand Slam...maybe it was all three.</font><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">
</font>
<p align="left"> <font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">When
the magic moment came, the audience clapped
and cheered and generally went wild. Bill bound
on stage, video camera in hand, and took some
footage of the audience before trading the camera
for a microphone. </font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">Some
fans yelled out belated birthday wishes. Bill
smiled and conveyed his sincere thanks, although
he admitted that he'd rather forget his birthday
these days. </font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">He
entertained everyone for the better part of
an hour, during which time he gave an update
on his latest activities, related several funny
stories, interacted with the audience and touched
upon the website. He also had an interesting
conversation with a man who brought his two
poodles to the convention dressed in Star
Trek uniforms. Read more about it in Bill's
Space this week. </font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">Both
Bill's wife, Elizabeth, and his daughter, Lisabeth,
were in attendance, and he took a moment to
introduce them. At one point, when relating
a story, he looked over at Elizabeth and said,
"My wife's laughing. That's a good sign."
</font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">Bill
talked about Showtime
and how his ribs still hurt from the car stunt
that he performed himself! He mentioned that
Groom
Lake (which he directed and acted in)
is in post production, and touched briefly on
Mind
Meld: Secrets Behind the Voyage of a Lifetime.
He also auctioned off a visit to the new Enterprise
set, donated by Rick Berman, for the Hollywood
Charity Horse Show which runs April 25-28,
2002 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in
Burbank, California. </font>
<p align="center">
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">Bill's
time on stage passed all too quickly. Eventually,
he bid everyone farewell and left to sign autographs.
But the fun didn't stop there! Joan Collins
was due on stage in the next hour and who better
to introduce her than Bill! </font><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">So,
he came back a little while later and escorted
Joan on stage. She appeared somewhat nervous
and asked Bill to stay up there with her for
a few minutes. Edith Keeler and Jim Kirk, together
again after 35 years! </font>
