Okay, I did it. I finally broke down and watched an episode of The Next Generation. What?! You might say, you've never seen one? Shame on you! Well, the truth is, I have always been loyal to the original series. I've really only seen the first Next Generation movie, you know, the one where Kirk - dare I say it? Dies. Naturally, it didn't thrill me to see him end up that way. This would probably make sense to you, being that, well, you-know-who my Dad IS. |

Next Generation
Okay, I did it. I finally broke down and watched an episode of The Next Generation. What?! You might say, you've never seen one? Shame on you! Well, the truth is, I have always been loyal to the original series. I've really only seen the first Next Generation movie, you know, the one where Kirk - dare I say it? Dies. Naturally, it didn't thrill me to see him end up that way. This would probably make sense to you, being that, well, you-know-who my Dad IS. But being the next generation myself, I felt that it would only be proper to educate myself about the other Star Trek voyages. So I forged ahead. The episode I chose to watch was "Encounter at Farpoint" parts one and two.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The tone of the show was very loyal to the original series - a team of loyal officers working together when faced with the unknown. It worked the first time, and it worked again here. I liked all the officers, Data being the most familiar to me, echoes of Spock all over the place. I loved the appearance that DeForest made (I miss him!).
