This was a really troubled year for the world, more so than ever.   |
| I find that fact unsettling because so many people were hurt and so many people lost so much. I've been trying to find positive things to feel and in trying to help as many as possible. And there is some satisfaction in that. For me personally, I feel good about what the year has brought me - two grandchildren, a loving and successful family, and a couple of awards that were really nice. So, the contrast between the tsunami, the hurricane, and the war and my own personal success can be somewhat overwhelming. So I urge all of you to take a moment and thank whatever it is that you thank for the good fortune of being alive and translate some of that to others. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and I look forward with anticipation to our New Year together. |

Fourth, little ole New Zealand is thoroughly enjoying the first season of Boston Legal! Finally, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperious New Year.

Dear Bill,
It has certainly been a tough year for many people. That's why we should be all the more grateful for what we have, as well as the people who love us. You should be very happy and proud of your family and your accomplishments, for they are all great things! It is important that we treat all of our loved ones and friends with all the love and respect that we can give them. Having them in our lives, a roof over our head, our health, food, etc. is all we really need. Happy Holidays, Bill! Be happy and stay safe!

Dear Mr. Shatner:
For me, this has been an incredibly bad year for me.
Within a space of 8 months, I have lost my mother, uncle, aunt and childhood friend. And as much as that had hurt me, the disasters throughout the world were just as painful to watch.
The bright spot of my year was that my first love has popped the question, and I accepted. I thank god everyday for my family and for what I have.
And I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2006.

It's the unnatural disasters that trouble me. I wrote a song that is on mainstream radio in Canada called Why Baby Why that asks the question, Why? Why can't we just love one another? Our world has suffered much this year, but somehow hope for a better tomorrow keeps us all going no matter what.
Our eldest son James was awarded a 1st degree honours this year at Uni after 3 years of hard work - a major success, especially as he beat cancer 4 years ago.
We went through 2 years of agony when James endured months and months of chemo and radiotherapy, as he fought for his life.
My husband and I thank God daily for his life and hope for his continued good health and happiness.
May I wish you and all who read this message a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

I have studied this in great detail. If would have been nice if I could have had some help on trying to bring the message that might cure these sort of problems, to the world. Perhaps you might think of helping in this endeavor in this next new year. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to deliver this idea to you in the past. Thank you for your holiday message. Caution reflects wisdom.
I appreciate your expressions of compassion. That you notice and share your disquieting awareness of the disparity between your own good fortune and others' lack of it speaks well of you.
Turmoil in the world from elements, nations, factions, and individuals are symptomatic birth pangs of some change to be revealed. Various worldviews have distinct expectations of what that something will be and time will prove it out.
After reflecting on similar concepts, King Solomon said, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. {14} For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV).
Happy holidays to you and your loved ones, Bill, and to all on this list.

Dear Bill and all:
It has been a troubling year and disappointing as well. When I was a kid you and Star Trek made me feel that the future is going to be great. The 60's and 70's was a different time yet had it's problems. But things today seem even more dangerous and unsettling.
I have to say back in the Star Trek series days and the movies you were and still are my hero. (I can say that even if I am 40). You made me the man I am today by being a positive role model.
My hope and wish for the new year is that somehow things will turn for the better and maybe things will change if we all try.
I wish you all the best and take care of yourself. A loyal fan here in sunny Florida!

Both of these are in danger of being lost unless steps are taken in the next couple months. Georgetown has once again decided to sell the property and it is feared to go to developers. Dear Mr. Shatner,
The most comforting things at this time for me are traditions with family. We welcomed the holidays with making gingerbread houses and decorating cookies. We wrapped presents and let each other know how much we appreciated each other and the things we received. The simple things- however cliche they sound- the laughter of children, housework, cheering up a coworker or friend, donating, creating art, create a sense of stability in our lives. I am thankful that our entertainment community recognizes and assists those less fortunate.
Best wishes for all in the new year.

If you're reading this, Mr. Shatner, it seems to me that you've gotten a bum rap in the past when people equated your self-promotion with arrogance and callousness.
