Fan Club The 15th Annual Wells Fargo Hollywood Charity Horse Show takes place this week at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, California. The event showcases some of the best western reining horses and riders in the country while simultaneously raising money for several local children's charities. William Shatner founded the show in 1990 and has guided the show's evolution over the years to include Kids Day activities for over 1,000 children in the community representing a number of local charities, an arena show, silent auction, and a dinner party and dance featuring musical artist Ben Folds.

This year's show benefits three local children's charities, Ahead With Horses, a therapeutic riding program for severely handicapped children, Camp Max Straus, a summer camp and sports mentoring program for children from single parent homes, and Tilden's Children which helps children embrace a positive future by preventing second generation homelessness.

THE ITINERARY

The Kids Day activities begin at around 2:00pm and bring together children from a number of local charities with the community. For some of the children, this may be the first time they've actually seen a horse, had their face painted, or potted a plant. It's an opportunity for them to enjoy an afternoon of food (sponsored by Chipotle, Wood Ranch BBQ and Guadalupe Mayan Nectar), entertainment and participate in hands-on projects.

The silent auction opens at 4:00pm just outside of the party room. This year, the auction features artwork, memorabilia, gift certificates, entertainment packages, hotel accommodations, toys, equine items and many one-of-a-kind collectibles. There's something for everyone. Admission to the show is not required to visit the silent auction. At 5:30pm, the Arena Show in the Equidome featuring jousting and sword play by the Imperial Knights, a performance by the FACE Vaulters and the beautiful vocal talents of singer Jamie Leigh.

At 7:00pm, the Western Dinner Party and Concert follows in the party room. once again this year, Factor's Famous Deli will be catering the event. At 8:30pm, the Silent Auction will close, then there will be a short Live Auction before Ben Folds takes to the stage for a mini-concert. You may recall that Ben produced and collaborated with Bill on his critically acclaimed album, Has Been, voted one of the top 10 albums of 2004 by Rolling Stone Magazine.
