See if you like this one....

"Eddie"

Eddie grew up
in a broken home,
no brothers, no sisters,
not even loved.

During school
his grades were poor,
no one helped,
no one cared.

He ran the streets
and did some wrong,
though his heart and soul
was tattered and torn.

A kind and gentle man,
led Eddie away,
he taught him love,
so Eddie stayed.

Time passed on,
and he joined the Service,
to honor the man
whom Eddie admired.

Days to months
and months to years,
he goes from little boy
to a strong, strong man.

The time had come
for Eddie to go,
a country far,
a country torn.

He hugged his mentor
so hard and tight,
nothing but silence,
nothing but tears.

Eddie fought,
and fought so hard,
his fellow Men
were going down.

He cried and mourned
but carried on,
in Honor of those
who helped him along.

Some months later,
Eddie came home...
missing a leg,
but his spirit strong.

Greeted with anger,
and spat upon too,
someone arrrived,
someone who cared.

There stood Eddie's dad,
tall and proud,
saluting his son,
glowing with pride.

As the silence passed
between these two,
some tears were shed,
and then came hugs.

Eddie's dad, leaned over
and said to him,
"I missed you son,
so glad you're home."

He then held his dad,
so tight in his arms,
whispered into his ear,
"I love you."

****this poem IS FICTIONAL****
