never makes up for one night of lost sleep?

Friday night, our youth group had a lock-in. They locked us in at 7:00pm and didn't let us out until 7:00am. The church, I mean. I didn't sleep. At all.

There was a point during the night when the leaders and I were the only ones not sleeping or playing football on the Playstation. They thought I was sleeping though because I was lying in a bundly of pillows and blankets with my eyes closed. We were in the middle of the narthex floor. They were talking and suddenly Dan says, "Hey Matt, do you remember that Star Trek episode, Space Seed." Matt, sounding very disinterested, replied, "yes." Dan then said, "That one with, uh, who was it again, that guy that played Khan?"

Me, from my pile of warmth, murmered, "Ricardo Montalban." And opened my eyes. The look was either, "You know that?" or, "You're awake?" But they went on with their conversation. Something about Moby Dick, I was tired. Then Dan says, "You know, Star Trek had the first interracial kiss." I couldn't help it, I sat up and said, "Plato's Stepchildren."

This time, I got a, "Are you a Trekkie?" We then went on to discuss why Original Series is better than Next Generation and vice versa. It was an interesting night.

You never know where you'll run into fellow Trekkies these days.
Last night I went to the grocery for a few things. When I came out, parked next to my van was another van identical to my own, except mine has a United Federation of Planets sticker in the back window. The owner of the other van came out about the same time, and said he'd noticed my van around town mainly because of the sticker.
We ended up talking for half an hour about Trek authors, collecting memorabilia, conventions, etc. Dan works for the water department here in town, and also runs the local Starfleet chapter, which I've been invited to check out.
So you never know where you'll run into us.

One day during Study Hall at school I was ont he computer checkin out this site. There's a kid named Evan I've known forever, and I told him I'm addicted to BBS. So he passes me by and says "WilliamShatner.com is you BBS?"
And of course everyone in the study hall heard him. Not too bad.
OK Even isn't a big fan of Trek, but he likes everything. Then I start to hear some kids talking about TNG.
I tell em TNG stinks (an exageration.)
They disagree.
Then this other guy says "Kirk could kick Picards ass!!"
Me and him had a long conversation after that Very Happy
And there was this one pathetic Warsie who was trying to explain why "that guy with pointed ears" sucked. He failed.
