A Day in the Life
by joains and the ripped shirt five
I saw the show today oh boy
About a lucky captain who made the grade
And though the show was rather good
Well I just had to laugh
I saw his photograph.
He ripped his shirt in a fight
He didn't seem to care and he didn't change
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his chest before
Everbody was really sure
The girls cried out--Good Lord.
I saw a film today oh boy
The federation had just won the war
A crowd of people gathered round
but I just had to look
Having read his book.
I'd love to turn Kirk on
Woke up, fell across the bed,
Dragged a kiss past his head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my dress and grabbed my hat
Made the beamdown in seconds flat
Found my way to work and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
I saw the show today oh boy
Four thousand ripped shirts to enshrine
And though the rips were rather small
I had to count them all
Now I know how many rips it takes to fill our eyes.
I'd love to turn Kirk on....
if your not a beatles fan, this will not mean much to you.
But if you are, redoing beatles songs and their phasing--is about as hard as it gets. |

it is almost like re-writing Shakespeare......the meter is the thing--John and Paul's choice of words fit just right and when you change a line... everyone knows how it should sound.... |
