After the last 2000 election debacle, the media came up with their answer, Voter News Service.
Now, it has been announced that VNS has determined that its own information is not accurate.
All the TV commentators are telling us we will have a long night. That we will have to wait for the raw vote. That this is putting us back into the 50's as far as the speed of election coverage.
I myself, can wait. I would rather have it right, not fast.
I also smell a rat.
What do you think? |

I'd rather wait, than have inaccurate information influence the late voters.
By the 11 o'clock news we should have some information. That's soon enough for me.

I maintain that we should NOT know ANY of the results until ALL precincts close.
Knowing the closeness of the race before you vote can distort the results.
Would you go out and vote for your candidate if the precinct was near closing and the candidate you want is either leading or behind by 40 percentage points? Unlikely. Not knowing the results ahead of time means more people will vote, which could sway the elections one way or another, despite any early leads or lags by a candidate. |

| As Trent Lott said earlier today, "I'd rather have no result than an incorrect one." |
