I urge you to find this video
Http://Www.Youtube.Com/Watch?V=0hR6O7VxKaQ
I know I have difficulty posting links here so if you can't find it google Military Wives (no, it's completely different to Readers' Wives!!)
Gareth Malone is a fresh-faced choirmaster who has made several TV programmes taking singing to unexpected places. A tough inner-city school and a run-down suburb were his first two ventures. this time he has formed a choir of military wives who have performed this beautiful song at our Festival of Remembrance.
It was written by the same composer who did the music for William and Kate's marriage and the words come from actual letters written to and from Afghanistan
I find it almost unbearably moving, but a timely reminder of how much more difficult some peoples' lives are. There are light moments though...I had listened to the song loads of times before seeing it performed and the fact that the woman with the voice of an angel is so heavily tattooed somehow fills me with joy!
If you enjoy it, I just heard Gareth Malone say he's been invited over to the US, so look forward to him performing magic with unlikely people Stateside.
Happy Christmas!
PS
If as is expected, his song beats Simon Cowell's latest offering to the top spot over Christmas it will have added enjoyment! |

Yeah, nothing says Christmas like tatoos. I like the kind that creep up the neck, then around the eye socket, like some alien parasite taking over the host body! Mike Tyson, who's also very angelic, has a tatoo like that.
To me, tatoos over 60% of the body (or more!) are a sign of good judgement. I won't hire someone unless I see highly visible, satanic or morbid tatoos, multiple piercings and shaved eyebrows. Then I know this person will be making some good decisions!
I'm glad we're all on the same page here. People who don't have an open mind about tatoos all over the body probably never stuck a needle in their arm, never huffed spray paint or glue, never have been to the methadone clinic or never have spent any time in a dark corner of a room convulsing heavily with delirium tremors. How can one fully live life without doing that stuff? Treating your body with respect? BAH! Humbug, I say! If I could work me will... |
