| As bad as it was in the U.K. , I have to admit, I'm still reeling from the Norwegian massacre. That one seems to dominate my psyche these days. The riots in the U.k. are a manifestation of groupthink. The Norwegian massacre is horrific and when I read about it, I have a more intense physical reaction that is part nauseating and part despair. I can't fathom it. |

'The Three Who Died, Died Nobly. Don't Riot In Their Name'
A poem for Tariq Jahan by Carol Ann Duffy the Poet Laureate
Came The Looters In Masks,
And You Three Stood,
Beloved In Your Neighbourhood,
Brave, Bright, Brothers,
To Be Who You Were
A Hafiz Is One Who Has Memorised
The Entire Koran;
A Devout Man
Then The Man In The Speeding Car
Who Purposefully Mounted The Kerb
I Think We All Should Kneel
On That English Street,
Where He Widowed Your Pregnant Wife, Shazad,
Tossed Your Soul To The Air, Abdul,
And Brought Your Father, Haroon, To His Knees,
His Face Masked In Only Your Blood
On The Rolling News
Where Nobody's Children Riot And Burn. |

| Sadly, it seems as though some people are already cancelling their reservations to attend the Olympic events in the UK. |

| Unfortunately that is how some folks deal with situations like this. They bail out of enjoying an opportunity like The Olympics. |

Sorry for chiming in late. I, too, was upset at the problems in London. As some of you may remember I lived there for about 10 years just before this site was started.
I had a townhouse in Chelsea and worked in Berkshire (first Windsor and then down the road in Staines.)
Londoners are pretty resourceful types and rebound a lot quicker than most. Remember they lived under the terror of the IRA for many years and saw a lot of bombings and death.
