How many of you watch Enterprise? I do and I enjoy it very much. Its fresh and funny at times. I see such great potential for the series. What do you all think of it? Would Gene be proud of where the franchise has gone or not? And what about the star of this page? Do you think he watches it, or at least has an opinion on the new series?

| The second series is an improvement, and far more engaging than the moribund 'Voyager'. But, the episode 'A Night In Sickbay' was embarrassingly written, performed and executed. I love many of the characters, such as T'Pol (not just for her figure) and Dr Phlox (a fine actor in Billingsley), but I find Bakula to be a useless figure of authority; this is only partly blamed on his uncharismatic performance, the writing is also at fault. The "gee whizz" factor is now no longer an excuse for the incompetence of the captain. Other characters seemed to have matured to the nature of space travel, but Archer remains foolish, ignorant, lame, uninspiring and, well, just plain pathetic. |

If Gene Roddenberry wasn't cremated, he would be rolling over in his grave over the state of Trek, Enterprise included.
The show is not original. The only thing different about this show is the color of the uniforms. The characters are all the same. The plots are all the same.
This week's episode was a ripoff of any generic A-Team episode, without the cool cast.
Enterprise only hurts Trek's legacy, because not only is the writing piss poor and the acting wooden, the storylines violate established Trek canon almost weekly. The writers simply aren't talented enough to pull the prequel off. |

I like Enterprise. I liked the paternalism of the Vulcans. I think it's the most probably history. I don't see anything wrong with Archer other than the occasional plot that conforms to PC beyond all (Prime Directive my butt), and that's not the actors/nor the character's fault. I do think his character should be a little more daring, but I think the acting style coupled with the time period works well. I enjoy watching the gadget's evolve. I've not been able to watch it much, but it's much more entertaining than a lot of stuff out there. All in all, I'm glad it's out there, b/c it would really suck not to have Trek in *some* form. IMHO

That's the problem. Vulcans aren't paternal. They are just arrogant jerks on Enterprise.
They are nothing like the TOS Vulcans. And the technology isn't evolving. It's already too advanced for the time frame. It's even more advanced than 100 years later.
For example, there are no viewscreens or cloaking devices in the 22nd century. |

I like Enterprise, though it is in now way better than TOS.
But, I am dissapointed in it. They could do so much more with the series, and really give you an in depth look into the very roots of the mighty federation. But alas, they choose to have this little ship off fighting the Suliban, a race which has never appeared before in Star Trek.
And what about the Klingons? I would have thought that we would see Earth and Quonos in a deadly, bloody war.
And what about the issue of the forehead ridges on the Klingons?
That doesnt look like it will be answered yet. As far as series two is concerned, I am in England so I havent recieved it yet.
My favourites of series one were:
"Silent Enemy," "Shuttlepod One," and "Dear Doctor."
I thought the latter two both charming and well thought out, and the first one, I thought was just plain cool. A typical Star Trek against-the-odds episode. |

Archer couldn't carry Kirk's Phaser. This guy is such a dud. Kirk was a stud and also a hero to all of the fans of TOS. Archer is clueless.

I like Enterprise, and I look forward to watching it every week. No, it's not even close to TOS, or even TNG for that matter, but it's still better than most of the crap offered on the networks these days.
I was very disappointed in the first season of the show, but I see major improvement this season thanks mainly to the writing of John Shiban. I look forward to watching this show for many years to come. I do think it has vast room for improvement, and this will begin to happen as the series settles into it's own. I too have problems with the continuity issues, but I think B&B are finally starting to hear the fans, so things can only improve. At least that's what they have alluded to in their recent interviews.
Don't get me wrong, I strongly support the BBK movement, but comparing TOS to Enterprise is camparing apples to oranges, IMHO. Gene is no longer here, and I'm not too happy with B&B, but it's here, so either enjoy what they offer or choose not to watch. It's definitly not the same caliper as the Original Series, but it's all we've got to carry the franchise forward. I would rather that Trek in some form remain in the public eye, then to let it fade slowly into the sunset.
I see this happening with my kids, and their friends. They are watching Enterprise, and slowly coming around to the other series.
All in all, it's a television show. It's not worth getting all worked up about, it's a television show! Yeah, Archer is a wimp at times, and they have a long way to go, but I rather watch Enterprise than nothing at all.

Well, I LOVED "Push, Nevada"---but since it was so good, the network cancelled it! Figures!
So, I took up "Birds of Prey," which is only good insofar as it provides eye candy to us guys. Otherwise, it's pretty lame. I missed the series opener, unfortunately. I may eventually drop "Birds of Prey" if it doesn't get better. Candy can't last forever!
So, the ONLY show that I am watching religiously is "Enterprise." I've already griped about Fox cancelling all my favorite shows ("Ally McBeal," "The X-Files," "Xena," and "Dark Angel"), so I'm down to two TV shows a week ("Birds of Prey" and "Enterprise"), and only "Enterprise" is a sure thing. I haven't missed a single episode since it began a season ago. I never got into "Voyager" or "DS9," so this is my follow-up to "ST:TNG."
I can't say the show is all that creative. But one thing it does have in common with TOS and TNG is that it revolves around the exploration of a starship AND it has interesting characters. (I never cared for the "Voyager" premise, and I never cared for the characters, either.) I especially like the T'Pol and Tripp. T'Pol is somehow very sexy; and Tripp is a hoot! As for Archer, he's adequate, but I always get the impression it's ACTING, not an actual starship captain. Scott Bakula is not truly convincing in his performance. William Shatner and Patrick Stewart were always so phenomenal in their performances that you never doubted for a minute that they WERE James T. Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard. But when I watch Scott Bakula, I just see Scott Bakula playing a captain. Malcolm and the doctor are fine, and Linda Park plays her role as universal translator very convincingly.
The show could be improved. A better actor than Bakula could have been found. But, overall, I like the chemistry on the show, and it fits the "Star Trek" mold that "Voyager" and "DS9" never could fill.
I agree that a fair-to-midlin' Star Trek series is better than no series at all. And so, I'll stick with this one. It's a good enough entry in the Star Trek universe to keep me coming back every week. |

I watch Enterprise because I've been a fan of Scott Bakula for a long time.
And I actually came to TOS and Mr Shatner through Enterprise.  Therefore I'm totally new to TOS and Capt. Kirk, but I'm learning more about it every day. |
