I'm a train person myself.
I have different reasons why I despise flying...
I can't say why on account I signed lots of NDA's but suffice to say I worked 8 months for Air Canada Technical Services.... nuff. said. |

I remember riding the rails when we first visited Vermont years ago. Took the Amtrak train called the "Montrealer" from Philadelphia to Bellows Falls. Very nice ride indeed. |

Despite the 'virtualness' of our interactions, I think a good many of us have been kickin' around this BBS long enough to have a reasonably good idea of whether or not we'd be interested in actually meeting in an informal and relaxed setting if given the opportunity.
Heck, my guess is that even a face to face howdy-do with someone who you may have crossed swords with from time to time in the forums would have the potential to be a pleasant experience!
In another recent thread, the idea was floated for an 'Eastern Time Zone' weekend summit centrally located within a single day's drive of most of us in this region (somewhere near the Virginia / North Carolina state border perhaps). If such a gathering were to take place, I'd certainly be interested...
...and I would also encourage others who preferred / needed forms of transportation other than 'wheeled' to partake as well!

I think it's a good idea. I met a lot of great people from Canada and Kentucky during Shatner paintball back in late August of 2003. It was a really fun weekend...I think about 700 people.
I'd also like to meet some of the dogs and other animals. Should we bring our bats and gloves for a softball game? |

Well, obviously too far for me.
I was going to vote, but couldn't find a place to check that said I didn't think enough people were on medication........ 
I think those that could make it would have fun. And I would of course hold a smoldering resentment at not being included, but would probably recover in time..... |
