I'm a train person myself.

I have different reasons why I despise flying...

I can't say why on account I signed lots of NDA's but suffice to say I worked 8 months for Air Canada Technical Services.... nuff. said.

I remember riding the rails when we first visited Vermont years ago. Took the Amtrak train called the "Montrealer" from Philadelphia to Bellows Falls. Very nice ride indeed.

Despite the 'virtualness' of our interactions, I think a good many of us have been kickin' around this BBS long enough to have a reasonably good idea of whether or not we'd be interested in actually meeting in an informal and relaxed setting if given the opportunity.

Heck, my guess is that even a face to face howdy-do with someone who you may have crossed swords with from time to time in the forums would have the potential to be a pleasant experience!

In another recent thread, the idea was floated for an 'Eastern Time Zone' weekend summit centrally located within a single day's drive of most of us in this region (somewhere near the Virginia / North Carolina state border perhaps). If such a gathering were to take place, I'd certainly be interested...

...and I would also encourage others who preferred / needed forms of transportation other than 'wheeled' to partake as well!

Wink

Depending on where the meet took place, Bob and I might be able to drive to the location.

I don't know what I voted for as I couldn't read the choices...but I don't even like meeting with people I know.

I think it's a good idea. I met a lot of great people from Canada and Kentucky during Shatner paintball back in late August of 2003. It was a really fun weekend...I think about 700 people.

I'd also like to meet some of the dogs and other animals. Should we bring our bats and gloves for a softball game?

Well, obviously too far for me.

I was going to vote, but couldn't find a place to check that said I didn't think enough people were on medication........ Shocked

I think those that could make it would have fun. And I would of course hold a smoldering resentment at not being included, but would probably recover in time..... Wink

I secretly suspect that there are several who post here, who are either aliens, or serial killers. Okay, I'm mostly talking about myself, but there may be others....... Shocked
