I was perfectly happy to have you back on the board. What gets old is the fact that you want to defend your former identity at the expense of simply contributing to discussion. There is no reason to keep fighting old battles. Cripes.

Dave, stop it! seriously, they are fairly aggressive personal attacks you are making, you don't agree with what jims says, doesn't mean he's full of hate. Are you trying to provoke him to get him banned again?

He told me on the last BBS that he never hated any one as much as he hates Bush. And he would kill Bush if he could. You never hear that kind of hate spewing from anyone else here. Wake up.

Dave,
I've seen some stuff coming from you that I could interpret as hate filled too.
Sue,
If Mystic ends up banned, he's had a hand in hanging himself. Don't lay all of this on Dave's doorstep.

You have seen things in my postings you interpreted as hate. From my point of view they were facts dispassionatly put forth for discussion. The hate was in the reactions I got. From that time on, my motives were constantly called into question every time I made a statement, or asked a question. I never hated anyone. I just want to stop those who hate me and my country enough to attack us and kill innocent people. What's hateful about that?

All events in history have their reasoning, some reasons being old, some being fresh; the American Civil War was no different. Since the creation of the United States seventy-five years before, there had been squabbles between north and south, east and west, rich and poor. Civil War had to happen sooner or later.
If you look at the issues surrounding the Civil War, you will find many answers as to why it happened when it did, chief among them the long-standing period of conflict (both in words and actions) between north and south, and in the economic situation between them. Remember that the north had most of the industrial power, with (if I remember right) 75%, and the south holding only 25%.
Six hundred thousand people died, some in more grotesque deaths than can be imagined one hundred and thirty seven years later, but their deaths turned into a living memorial in the life and words of their children's children and all of the generations since. These United States stand tall and mighty because of that war, not in spite of it; you cannot have what we are now without that war, and if you did, then I can assure you that history would not have been the same.
Yes, the war was won, but not by whom you think. Both sides lost lives that could never be lived again, but in doing so, they insured that I would be alive today, and they insured that you, all Americans, would be alive. Our history as Americans is a rich one, and that includes the Civil War.
For people who want to attack me, as some have done already, that is their choice. It is no skin off of my back because I know that every word spoken in all of the threads that I author are chosen carefully, and all opinions spoken have merit, not just my own. I extend to you the same courtesy, as I would expect extended to me; however, if there are those of you who would like to descend into personal attacks, well, this is not the place for it. My MSN and Yahoo Messenger are listed if you would like to discuss anything further. I would be more than happy if you would like to have a conversation with me. [/list] |

Well, Dave, count me as one of the people who don't hate you. |

Jims' probably believes the same things about what he said. What constitutes hatred is always subject to individual interpretation. What you mean versus what someone else perceives is bound to vary. I'll bet even Bin Laden or Hitler believed that they were dispassionately stating facts (I'm not saying you are like either of them; it's just an example).

You could be right. I just never said I hated anyone. Jims said he NEVER hated anyone as much as he hates the leader of the free world. I'll give him one thing. He comes right out and says it.

Look, bottom line time, you launched an attack on jims being "hate-filled" with no provocation. I don't want him to be driven from this board by that sort of attack.
You continue to maintain that your stance is merely a desire to discover, but, I repeat, that is not how it comes over.
In an ideal world, I would like to see you and jims on the board, expressing your opinions and disagreeing (frequently, no doubt)
don't you think you're being a touch pompous saying that jims hates "the leader of the free world"? So what? Why does it matter so much if most people outside of America dislike Bush? Get used to it! I f you could have heard some of the abuse i copped about Thatcher and I hated her!
