Okay it seems like I remember a made for TV movie set in Baja in the very early 70's where William Shatner's character is considering suicide by driving off a cliff while on a motorcycle trip in Baja, Mexico. Am I mistaken? I can't find on his movie credits. I was young but remember being one of the first times I had seen him in something besides Star Trek.

Yeah, that was "Pray for the Wildcats" also starring Andy Griffith as the baddie as well as Robert Reed and Marjoe Gortner. I 've always liked it how at the end of the movie Bill pulls himself together and saves the day.

Thanks Morgram! Yep, so I Googled it, 1974. Apparently, it was a 'Movie of the Week'.
