There are only four outdoor phone booths left in Manhattan - and they’re all on West End Avenue. That’s it: four.
If you happen to pass by, I seriously advise you to stop in one of these booths while they’re still around. Note that someone still cares enough to keep the overhead light in proper working order. Close the door (be amazed that they even have doors), and you’ll find yourself in a veritable fishbowl plunked down in the center of Manhattan. The walls actually keep out a good amount of sound, and it’s surreal to look out at the world around you with something you don’t usually get on a busy Manhattan avenue: personal space.

I was walking into the Piggly Wiggly and saw a girl using
the pay phone. I thought, isn't that strange these days.
As I was leaving she was still there, but she was leaning up
against the pay phone and talking on her cell phone 
UPDATE: In case it wasn’t clear above, I am referring ONLY to outdoor four-walled phone booths. If it doesn’t have a door, it ain’t a phone booth! |

| Montreal still has quite a number of glassed in phone booths. I make a point of noting them because you never know when you'll need to use one. Especially when the battery dies in your cell... or you forget to take it with you and at certain times a day, a call from a booth is way cheaper than from a cell. |

I guess Superman will have to find a new changing room huh? 
Did you know that in a little Florida town, the police station is run out of a phone booth just like the one in the photo? |
