What's the difference between a Clamdigger, a Piney, a Benny, and a Shoobee?

HEHEHEHE....I didn't know it was that difficult...OK, everyone knows about pork rinds...but some from the deep South used the fatty skin off of the chickens...that part most people leave on the plate, because it's so fatty.
You put it in a fry pan and let it semi-burn, like you're cooking bacon...
only it's crispy chicken, blot the oil off and you have chicken Crackle, which you can eat like chips or sprinkle on salad or steamed greens.
Did I gross you out?
The cookies sound better |

I tried to be completely VEGGIE, but without the protein from Fish and Foul...it was causing lots of problems, after adrenal collapse.
I don't eat RED MEAT This all happened while you were gone, so I can see why you didn't think of it. I wish I could get some clean and meaty Fish right now...some rainbow Trout or Perch would be great...now you made me hungry.... |

Talapia is considered a meaty fish and one of my favorites when it's cooked in a marinade of basil, lime juice and zest, and a little olive oil and vanilla extract...did I make you hungrier? |

Devious meaning? WHAT! I'm a dyed in the wool clamdigger and proud of it.
Unfortunately, unless your from Jersey, these are really state specific. But there are quite a few of us around here. Not really good at these games.
Waiting for Morgram to show up, he'd have this in a heartbeat.....we've already had the shoobee discussion.
(Now I'm just screwing with ya) |

I know that Sue knows, but I'll see if anyone else knows what a "cracker" is in Florida.
(That's another clue.) |

OK... the answer....
Where would you find Crackers in Florida?
Following cows.
In pioneer days cowboys used bullwhips to herd cattle- hence the term "cracker".
They would crack them in the air- and we went to a park that had a reenactor who demonstrated the whips they used to use. It sounded like a gunshot. (He also had a recreation of a "Cracker Camp"- it was well done. We chatted with him after the little "presentation" was over- and had a great chat about Florida archaeology and history.)
It's now used more as a name for someone who was born in the "Florida Boonies", especially in areas of eastern Polk County. |
