Lee Greenwood'd lyrics to his song,"God Bless the USA" Be safe.

If tomorrow all the things were gone
. . I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
. . with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
. . to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
. . And they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
. . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota
... To the hills of Tennessee
... Across the plains of Texas
... From sea to shining sea
... From Detroit down to Houston
... And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say..

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA!

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the U.S.A."

There are few songs that speak as strongly to America's patriotic pride as Lee Greenwood's classic "God Bless the U.S.A.". America is a land filled with courageous, giving people. People who fight for what is right. People who won't tolerate bullies. People who are there in times of crisis. And people who lend a hand.

We are a people who are proud to call ourselves Americans. God Bless the U.S.A. is a celebration of the legacy of freedom and the determination that made the U.S.A. the country it is.

From John Adams' telling his wife about the great decision to make the colonies "free and independent States" to Abraham Lincoln's resolve that the "government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth"; from the remarkable spirit of Chicago after the city was destroyed by fire, to Martin Luther King's dream that we all join hands and sing "Free at last, free at last, Thank God Almighty, we are free at last," the book portrays the indomitable spirit that has characterized Americans for more than 225 years.

Hello folks. Had a pretty uneventful day/evening at work until a customer told me that I was rude (I'm not management, I'm just a CSR trying to do her job).

The story is that my daughter had to ask for assistance. We have to check people's signature on their credit card slips against their credit card after their order is finished. (His credit card did not have a signature). This customer then tells me that we should have recognized him since he has been shopping there at our store for the past six years. I let him go this time but I swear the next time when he pulls this off by insisting on giving me a hard time, I will call the manager in charge.

I get to the point sometimes I feel like flipping the bird at some of these people. Rolling Eyes

Where I work you have to suck up to the customer (btw, I mentioned it to our "Store Director" about it this morning and he asked me if I was rude. I said no. Last night when this occurred my daughter laughed at the idiocy of it.)

We had a large number of private fireworks in our area last night. We normally have quite a few, but with the fireworks at Fort Vancouver being cancelled, I noticed even more this year. There were literally dozens of fireworks in the air at any time, being shot off from different houses.

A very sobering moment was when my dad said to close my eyes and listen. Then he said, "This is what it sounds like when you are in a war zone" (Dad was stationed at the invite of Uncle Sam in Korea). It hit home. I mentioned that the screaming/zinging sounds must be what the bullets sounded like, and it would be horrible wondering if each one you heard would hit you. My dad replied that you wouldn't hear the one that hit you........ Shocked Sad

My hearty thanks to all service people, past and present, for having to listen to "the real thing".

We both had a fantastic fourth.

My cousin and her (new) husband came to my folks house- we chatted for hours, catching up, had a really nice dinner, and then went out to watch the fireworks (which I was able to videotape- very nice!).

It was so good to see her again- she'd moved and we'd lost touch for quite a few years (like 15 to 20 years), and then got back in touch a couple of years ago. The two of us have always been close- very much like having a sister for me, and we're looking forward to doing more fun stuff together. She's also very close to my parents (and she and Sue get along great!)

Her new husband is a lot of fun too- we were swapping "Things I did as a crazy kid!" stories... and had a blast.

Karen said that she and Sue are going to have to watch the two of us when we get together- otherwise we're likely to get into trouble!!!

Our fireworks went off at 9:20 pm and lasted half an hour!! It was worth the wait as they were postponed because of rain Saturday...my 2 year old nephew and sister were with us and GAge had a blast!!!!

I even got the chance to snap a few pics of the big boomers ...then my cameras battery died!! Evil or Very Mad

I know what you mean Cat about the noise that it makes like a war zone...people were setting stuff off here till 11 pm and we could hear pop, pop, BANG..skreeeeee BANG! for about an hour after the fireworks were done and we had come home...

Glad every one had a safe and happy Fourth!
