I lived in Dorval and used to drive by the old Northern Telecom building on my way to work. Now that I live in Ottawa I drive by emptying Nortel plant on Moodie Drive.
Hard to believe the place is on the verge of going to dust. Wonder where John Roth is these days?
At the risk of prying, what did you do in telecom? I've never worked in it but I write business news and stock market reports and sure made my fair share of mistakes picking the wrong stocks at the wrong time.

OK...we've all seen the ADS, but do they REALLY work?...are they actually nice looking?...will they last over 2 weeks?....My under $20 choices are:

YES!!!! Finally a jar opener that actually can go around and STAY on a jar lid ...no matter the size. Hey if you have athritis and losing strength in your hands...this is GREAT
Now..I'm just wondering if the CAN OPENER works as well
ALL Available at WALGREENS, so no shipping...and if you sign up on Walgreens.com, they send coupons for $5 off $20 purchase...

YES!! THe can opener works just as well as the jar opener...I may have to get one for me as my hands are getting weaker every year.
My gifts are usually food and hand made items...I love making crochet and knitted items...shawls are a big item for oh,, 5 skiens of yarn and a pair of knitting kneedles...or some crochet thread and a crochete hook...both items and threads/yarn about $15.00.

I'm an executive assistant.
I begin in a new position at a very large engineering construction company next Monday which means I won't be online during regular business hours.

We often give homemade chocolate fudge - mint brownies for Christmas.
Sometimes we also make other home-made gifts.
Thrift shops and so on are a good source of low cost gifts as well. |

I plan to make Christmas cookies and candy and include gift cards with them. That way everyone can enjoy some goodies and then after the Christmas rush is over, they can go and get something that they really want.
Having worked in retail for many years, I know that some stores put out all of the old junk that they could not sell all year long so they can get rid of it before the New Year starts. Some of it is good, but a lot of it is just plain junk. |

| My husband worked in retail for many years. He sez that people will buy ANYTHING on Christmas Eve. He'd go in the back, grab whatever junk was sitting around and slap a price on it. One year he sold dirty socks that way. |
