Today Obama named Rahm Emanuel, formerly of the Clinton Administration, as his chief of Staff. Obama said he would bring change to Washington and although extremely competent, Emanuel is also extremely partisan. Yep, that`s change alright. |

| It is only 8:20pm here but it feels like midnight to me. I am thinking of turning in early tonight. I am working this weekend to make up for the last couple of weeks. |

Give it a rest bud, will ya?
Sorry I haven't been around, too many things going on around here. My brother had shoulder surgery yesterday, so he's here at the house with us since the girls are off from school due to a teachers convention, and they can look after him. My aunt has just finished radiation for thyroid cancer, and we are awaiting a surgery date for removal, so I have been over there as much as possible to help them out. My uncle isn't in the best of health, so I have to be over there to help out.
On top of that, I have a 14 week old puppy and the kids to deal with, along with working and life in general. I'll be back on here as a regular as soon as I can. Oh, and I'm a DEMOCRAT!
Miss talking to you guys.
Peace,
Steve |

Staying at home and not telling a soul in my town that I am a Republican....I was chewed out by a teacher at my daughters high school after I had dropped off some papers for her that we had to get straightened out. We were talking about the election and i said I hoped McCain would win...... She proceeded to tell me how bad Bush and Republicans were for this country, and then told me that they had teasingly threatend a girls job at the school since she was a Republican...i didn't think it was very funny.
I for one am sick of hearing how great Obama is going to be and how he can practically walk on water, feed the poor and take away and solve all the problems with his policies...and be a saviour for the world...I just heard that on a news channel..that people are holding Obama up as the saviour for the whole world and that he can do anything...The only man I know that can do all that is the one I wrote about in my signature below...and His policies last forever......
That is where this Republican went...

P.S. I hope all will go well for your family Steve and hope your brothers surgery went well..... |

It's hard to look for that silver lining when others condemn you for your beliefs or who your choice is. |

Yes it is, but remember that there will ALWAYS be people that dont agree or condemn you for whatever reason they see fit.
The important thing is to BELIEVE in what YOU feel is right and stay true to yourself ...Being honest and at peace with yourself is more important than anything else.

Sounds like you do have your hands full, Steve! Hope everything works out for your aunt...
Diana, I can't speak for the media in the US, but here, Obama represents something so new and fresh that it has lifted people's hearts. They do believe that change can happen. If some are taking it to extreme lengths, that could be a worry when they find out that he is human after all! as for the joke about a threat to a job, take it as that, a joke...one you don't find particularly funny, but a joke nonetheless! It is hard to accept the defeat of one's preferred candidate, just ask the Democrats four and eight years ago! |

I agree with you Mirizor...with job loss last month of 240,000 and unemployment at 14% and a loss of 1.4 million jobs for the entire year of 2008 joking about firing some one who isn't a Democrat isn't very funny in these times.....In the next 20 weeks..Our Treasury is going to "loan" 120 BILLION dollars to keep the dollar's value from sinking overseas and bolstering the economy....no one in our area is getting jobs and many are losing homes and cars left and right.
And I have accepted the defeat but people don't have to go around rubbing it into peoples faces and saying how great things are going to be and Obama giving hope...Wait one year and come back and see if you feel the same way about Obama then......Like he said himself....it may be a year or even till the end of his term before things may change and some things he proposed may not get done during his first term at all because the economy is worse than when he first started campainging..... Are you all understanding that and accepting that? No your all just going on...and on...and on....on how great the change is going to be....hope is good but it doesent pay the bills when your income is cut off or limited (like mine is), your incoming bills aren't meeting your outgoing money and now the man you voted for is now saying it may be a while before his "change" and "hope" gets to us.

Couple of things....how can you still support a party who brought all that misery to you and your country? How can you be sad at another party being given a chance?
If you want to see people really rubbing other people's noses in it, I suggest you go back four years to when Bush won again. We have been much more civilised, I can tell you that! |
