Today I decided to get out of here for a few hours, and took a ride on my Truimph up north to check out the foliage. Absolutely beautiful and even though it was a little chill, completely worth it. There's a lot of family issues going on here and I just needed to get out and clear my head.
Coming home, I'm already back in my hometown, coming off a highway onto an offramp thats a downward slope and has a stop at the end to merge into traffic. When you get to the stop, you have to really be careful because the road bends away from your line of sight, and it's under an overpass for the highway. Anyway, I'm stopped and checking to make sure it's OK to go, and I see in my rear view a white Town & Country coming down the ramp behind me. It occurs to me that he's not slowing down. It was like time slowed and I think, s**t, he's going to hit me. And sure as hell, he did.
The moron wasn't paying attention and ran right into the back of my my new bike. I let the brake off and let him push me out onto the road, and TG there was no cars coming. But the bike has suffered. My back fin is messed up, the taillight is broken, and the license plate is mangled. And the guy gets out of the van and wants to exchange info and head on his way.
I got his plate and called the police on my cell, which he objected to until I told him that if he took off, I had his plate and I was still going to the cops. My new bike has less than 5000 miles on it, and it's going to need work now, and this guy wanted to skip. I told him, NO WAY. He could of killed me and he's pissed that I want to call the cops to report an accident?
What the hell is wrong with people these days? Where is the sense of responsibility? If there had been a car coming and I had been killed, my kids would be alone. Don't people think?
Sorry, I'm really pissed off right now at the lack of responsibility that a number of drivers out there have towards others. What a horrible ending to a great ride... |

That is some bad news, but I am glad that you are ok and also had the sense to take the brake off.
So, I hope the driver got the ticket and tell us, tell us what the cop said about all of it.
OK, yes, I know, some of us are nosey. |

ARe you ok Steve????????
You didn't get any injuries did you?
What a pin head for wanting to take off on you after HE hit YOU!
I hope he gets a huge ticket or his licence checked out for what he did. Maybe he has some other priors for driving that he didn't want known....
I am sorry for your bike too as it sounded like it was good stress reliever for you and a way for you to save on your gas for work...
I will say some prayers for you tonight that you won't have any problems with this !@#$%^

Well, curiosity is always a good thing.
There were two cop cars at the scene. One cop was with me, trying to convince me to go and get checked out, and he didn't want me to take the bike home. The other cop was with the moron.
I saw the other cop issuing a ticket to the moron, but I have no idea was the summons was for. My officer wanted me to go to the hospital to get checked out since the hit was sort of hard, but I didn't want to leave the bike, and I felt OK. That was probably stupid since I'm having some real pain in my upper back right now, but, oh well.
The police then followed me home since I was only about a mile from home at that point, and now I just keep looking in the garage and getting more and more angry at my bike. Called the insurance company already and going to have them do the estimate ASAP. Dammit. |

Stick to your guns, you did it right.
Make sure the replacement parts are new. I have seen
them try to slip refurbished parts in |

| Even though you did not go to the hospital right away, I believe you are still entitled to get checked out through the insurance. You may want to check it out. |

Sue's right. Even if you feel better, you need to get your back checked out.
A bad back is no fun, and it may get better, but then give you a lifetime of trouble.
I understand about not wanting to leave the bike. I hope that they get it all straightened out really fast.
Keep us posted on the situation.

Things like this make me foam at the mouth !
SH!T ...you could have been killed or seriously wounded if there had been traffic when that idiot pushed you on the road !!!!
And mouthing of when HE was the guilty one....sheesh Steven I'm always a lady, but believe me i would have started a fight you woulden't believe !!!!
With that back you have to be VERY carefull...muscle spasme are common after an accident like your's, but it's also known to end in a hernia if you'r not careful.
SO SEE A DOCTOR, THAT IDIOT HAS TO PAY FOR THAT !!! |

Geez, Steve, I hope you're okay. By all means, get yourself checked out. And you absolutely did the right thing.
You take care of yourself, okay? |

Go to a Chiropractor, their good for making wording statements just in case this gets messy and you need to go to court. Unfortunately, you may have to sue the person just to afford the replacement parts and medical bills.

Morning everyone, and thanks for your concern. Sorry, I was just real angry yesterday, still am, but under control.
I'm going to go to our medical department at the college this morning and have them check me out. Just stiff back muscles and a sore neck today, but nothing a few Aleve's won't help.
Pippa, you cracked me up, calling me Steven. I don't think anyone's called me Steven since my mother......
As for council, it pays to have a lawyer in the family. I called my brother Brian last night, and even though he's in court this morning, he's going to look into what tickets were issued to the moron, and let me know what my next step is in all of this.
Also, I'm calling my friend Scotty, who owns New Jersey Custom Cycles to come get the bike tonight after work. We've ridden together for years and I know he won't screw me on the replacement parts.
So all in all I'm getting it together. Sucks though, since it's a beautiful fall morning, and I have to go get in the car. Oh well, at least I can listen to music this morning on the way to work.
So have a great day everyone, and thanks for letting me rant. |

!. It's ok to be angry about this! At least you are in control about it, and control is good.

If your muscles are sore, a few Aleve wont help for long, as it sounds like you may have whiplash possible. Good job for at least going to the Medical clinic at the school but it would be best to go to the regular dr on this pinheads dime!
Pippa, you cracked me up, calling me Steven. I don't think anyone's called me Steven since my mother......
At least we didn't call you by your middle name..if your hauled out onthe carpet with your middle name included your in trouble!! LOL!

Great move on your part!

Yay on getting good parts!

Do you also realize just how many people now know about the moron? Not just folks here in the states but around the globe by those who post here.
Wouldn't he be shocked if he went into a grocery store and several people recognized him: "Oh, you are the moron who hit our friend on his motor cycle!" |

Wow you were really lucky,I've had that happen to me a couple of times,.Sue the ******* for every dime you can get.
If he was DUI i'd make sure the whole town knows about it and shame him.Hopefully it wont be long before you are back on the road.
I know it's small comfort but motorcycles, can be repaired/ replaced a lot easier than people can. |
