| I love, love, LOVE Vincent Price!!! So many great movies he was in. I do particularly like The Dr. Phibes movies, directed by a friend of my late uncle's, Robert Fuest. |

I like the Phibes movies, and Theatre of Blood where Price got to ham up,and overact ( in a good way) the roles he played.
I think also the "Edgar Allen Poe" movies he made with American International were good. Especially Masque Of The Red Death, even if they did "re write" the stories somewhat.
But i like his other works too, such as
The Bat
House of Wax ( a particular favorite of mine)
Witchfinder General ( he was really sinister in that one)
The Tinger
The Tomb of Ligeia
Last Man On Earth
So many great movies, i think like Lee, and Cushing he made even the worst script, ( and low budget movie) in to a classic just by being in it. |

HOUSE OF WAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, just really love that one. So creepy. Seems like a perfectly nice guy, but kills people and dips them in wax for his art.... |

For instance,in the book, the narrator visits the house, with intention to see Roderick, not Madeleine, also bringing in a romance between Madeleine Usher and Philip Winthrop,a fire destroys the house in the film ,insted of it falling into the tarn etc etc . |

Hard to believe it's 15 years sinse he left us.
Ironically Vincent Price and Christopher Lee share the same birthday.
27th May, Peter Cushings was the 26th May.
I wonder who there is, of this generation that could replace them? |

As tomorrow (October 25th) is the 15th anniversary of Vincent Prices death, I just thought i'd like to make a comment.
In that so many of those "classic" horror" movie stars, are no longer with us. The people who's movies ( most of them in Black and White) i loved watching, and being scared by as a child and as i was growing up. People like Boris Karloff,Lon Chaney ( Snr and Jnr),Bela Lugosi, and of course Vincent Price and Peter Cushing true masters of their art.I feel sad that most of those masters of style have gone. The actors who's brilliance made the movie, and who's very names made us want to see the film, no matter how bad the script was no matter that the "special effects", were often a complete let down, and the budgets were so low they were almost non existant, they made these stories watchable and great just by being in them. When the sad day comes when Christopher Lee, finally leaves us that really will be the end of an era. |
