As it's my birthday tomorrow (6th Oct),i thought i'd hold a special dvd prize competition.
Anyone can enter,
The prize will be.....
3 Classic Horrors Of The Silver Screen On DVD - Vol. 1 - Horror Hotel / The Terror / The Corpse Vanishes
Horror Hotel: This hotel is the gateway to hell!
Young college student Nan Barlow uses her winter vacation to research a paper on witchcraft in New England after her professor ( Christopher Lee) recommends a place for her to visit. She sets off for a small village with a history of black magic. When she arrives she notices some weird happenings but things begin to happen in earnest when she finds herself "marked" for sacrifice by the undead coven of witches!
The Terror: A lieutentant in Napoleon's army (a young Jack Nicholson) traces a mysterious woman to a castle on the Baltic coast and finds himself trapped by a mad baron (Boris Karloff). This highly enjoyable, atmopsheric slice of low-budget horror from the great Roger Corman was also reportedly directed at points by future talents Francis Coppola and Peter Bogdanovich.
The Corpse Vanishes: Bela Lugosi plays a botanist who sends orchids to blushing brides on their wedding days. But, they are not around to enjoy the reception as Bela kidnaps them to use their glandular fluids to rejuvinate his wife...
rules are easy ....
all you have to do is e-mail me the answer to the following question,Please do not post your answers here
Q.What is the correct name of the "Horror Hotel", in the movie of the same name..?
Closing date for the competition is wed 8th October |

I've been catching some horror movies on Chiller TV almost every other day.
Their current schedule, for me, is best on the evening of the 30th and all day the 31st. Some really great classics are showing.
BOO to one and all.

I'm watching this movie right now
Boris Karloff in this movie, was 80 years old, at the time and looked really frail.I don't think this was really one of his best films.
I wonder if Christopher Lee was right ,after he gave up playing Dracula, in the 1970's. Saying that it's a mistake to bring "gothic" horror stories , and gothic horror actors in to the modern day.? |

I believe the classics cannot and should not be "updated". They belong to another time and era and are to be appreciated in and for what they represent.
Modern day horror is cgi or worse and gore cannot make up for talent and simple story lines well executed.
..............thus endeth the epistle of the day.......... |

Daisy | Yes it was a great series, although i was far too young to watch it at the time.
Sorry i don't have it,i have looked around to see if i could find it anywhere, but no luck.
I asked a friend who works at the BBC, to find out if it is available, the news is, they have NOT officially released it on DVD,and have no plans to do so, in the immediate future. So any available copy will probably be, a recording taken from T.V .The BBC sold the series to UK Gold, who reshowed it some years ago. It's unknown if they still have it in their archives at the moment, so any copy, someone is selling, may not be the best, so it's taking 'pot luck' if you want to buy it.
The complete series is listed here at £39.99. ( I don't know what the quality will be like or what region it is)

Thanks for your help , I have looked every where for it, and it seems that there are DVD taken from UK Gold, and as a last resort due to the fact they are still arguing about it being Made into DVD . and a lot of hassle, I am trying to buy it from I-offer , several of them on here , I realise they wont be 100% but I just would like to have it, cant wait for many years while they hassle about Legal points .
I got The Invisble man like this, about like watching a Tape quality. and I have ordered Tyrone Power, 4 of the movies on the list you gave me. these too are from TV ,
I dont mind a drop in quality as long as I can see my old friends:)
Thanks again

If you don't mind the VHS standard quality.

I actually baught Sappire and Steel it was only 15 pounds This is a strange series. one has to really pay attention:) David and Joanna worked so well together. it was good to see her less zany Beautiful lady.
Thanks again Brit for trying. as I say I downloaded 11 Colditz then the next few had problems with timing and burning. I wanted to send a set to my daughter she loves all things David , (re found:) I will give this 'Ioffer 'a few more days then I will re order it from one of the others they have there.
Two studios made Colditz and there is where we have problems with the making of the DVD release.
