Can someone please help me? I know this scene is made up of parts of popular dances from the 1990s, but I'm unsure of their names. Luckily, I was born in the 90s but was too young to remember these dances or this particular movie. Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. I watched this movie almost 3x in two days and the ending always makes me cry. I'd love to perform this sequence at a talent show if I could get the dances right. If anyone could help I'd be eternally grateful to you!! Thanks!! |

| Sorry no idea - they look like moves extracted from Ballet. |

Smith Wordes ( an ex dancer and actress ) was the Choreographer. So maybe there might be some information, on what the dance steps were.Perhaps If you can find a web site about her. She also worked on Star Trek First Contact and Insurrection.

Your link died a slow and painful death.... but I searched through the other links..This routine seems to be pure interpretive dance moves, encompassing folk steps with ballet for flair. Some of the other scenes
were rocked up Country line dancing...and some were showing the first steps of Hip Hop.
If you're going to do this routine...just do the repetitious reviewing...
and add a little flair of your OWN...get someone to tape it..I'd LOVE to see your Performance.. |

I agree with Littlestar. The dance is more of an interpretation of the words to the song. If it were me, I would listen to the words and do my own interpretative dance.
Will you be doing this dance solo? or will you have two others with you like in the video?
If you are going solo, then I would say, do you own interpretation of the words and music. |

Thanks to you all so much by the way!!
I was wondering what the dance steps actually were, and if they belonged to a certain dance of the time period. Yes, I've been searching through information on the Internet and it IS interperative dance. And that was cool that it was coreographed by someone who worked on Star Trek!!
I was planning to get a few friends together or maybe just do it on my own. |

If you get stuck here's one anyone can do...
The basic dance step is described in the chorus of the song:
It's just a jump to the left.
And then a step to the right.
Put your hands on your hips.
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane.
Let's do the time warp again!
