I was just listening to Monty Python, meaning of life, galaxy song. Where they say the galaxy arms are only 3000 LightYears wide. And for some reason I thought, why didnt voyager just fly outside the galactic space where theres nothing but void, setup cryogenic chambers for everyone and just go to max warp? They wouldnt have to worry about any course changes to avoid hitting anything. Or being borded and raped by aliens that have bumps on thier foreheads and speak english. But then theres the galactic barrier, which makes no sense, that they would have to get thru, then they also have to not do any exploring along the way which we know could never happen in the star trek universe, miss out on all that interesting stuff and thousands of humanoid alien species with bumps on thier foreheads and speak english. And ofcourse they knew they were going to find a faster way to get home than thier warp technology was capable of. Like the borg transwarp conduits, which also provided a way to destroy the borg forever. Also remembered just now that they did take the long way home and janeway went back in time and provided the way for them to get home early so that Tuvok didnt have to die pennyless and insane! Anyway, it made for a good TV show. And provided a stage for Jerry Ryan to share her wonderful body with the masses. What a world! Its a miracle they avoided the planet of aliens that speak French!

Exellent post! Bonus! Party!

I forgot, in ST5 they relocated the galactic barrier to the center of the galaxy as a prison for a godlike being that they blew up with a torpedo. So the barrier wouldnt be a problem. Also Uhura nekid, a cat woman with 3 boobs, and watery billiards.

There's two galatic barriers. The original and the one around that false god.

According to ST:TNG book trilogy they were set up by the Q. Which makes sense. The Q can do anything they want.
