| John Wayne always played good guys and Steve McQueen played guys who were fundamentally good. Newman didn`t care what kind of people he played. I mean what kind of a message to we get at the end of "HUD"? That the no-good heel wins the day? |

| Have you heard some of the ridiculous gup coming out of some people`s mouths in Hollywood? Sally Field said something like "Sometimes God makes a perfect person and Paul Newman was one of them". I mean give me a break. True arrogance. These Hollywood people think that all they have to do his open their stupid mouths and the whole of America is just suppose to automatically agree with them. Did Sally Field ever pay any complements to Chuck Heston when he passed away? No, of course not. |

MY GOD MORGRAM...HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THE DEAD!!!!
This is a thread about Newman, his Death, His Life....
Not a comparison to YOUR preferred actors and how YOU think they are superior...
If you don't understand him, appreciate him or like him....
pass over the thread.... |

I am very sad, Paul Newman has always been one of my favourite actors. He was so talented and dedicated to his art. He had a mesmerising presence on the screen and his eyes spoke volume even when he was silent. |

Steve McQueen was the coolest and McQueen was a lifelong friend of Newman`s. Steve was in 'Somebody Up There Likes Me" with Paul Newman. In a hardcover book I once had about John Wayne there is a quote from Steve McQueen who says "When I want to know how to act tough, I just look at the Duke" and this is Steve McQueen who is generally regarded to be have been far cooler on screen than Newman ever was. |
Hey Morgram...
You are quite right about Steve McQueen. I don't WHAT I wasn't thinking! lol... Both were two peas in a pod. |

Well, yes, nobody ever doubted his patriotism, he spoke fine words. Newman set up a charitable foundation and donated millions of dollars to good causes. That is why I called him a humanist, or maybe I should have said humanitarian. |

I would say he was more a humanitarian than a humanist.....
