Go on treat yourself and watch a few great movies from the days, when the actors performances,and good scripts told the story, not lots of expensive CGI and special effects.
The House On Haunted Hill
Vincent Price gives a stellar performance as the suavely malevolent host of a "haunted house party" who offers his guests $10,000 if they can survive a night in the murderous mansion.

Horror Express

Horror Express has that classic ' Hammer' style to it,even though it was not made by Hammer. It was made on a very low budget ( as can be seen in the model shots), the railway carriage sets were left over from another movie, so they were used to save money, and the movie was made in Spain.This was to keep the costs down.
In saying all of that,Horror Express is not your typical "B" movie, the acting is strong, with great rapport between Lee and Cushing,and you can see the great fun and friendship between them,it is obvious they both enjoyed making the film.It must have been a refreshing change for Lee to be a good guy, for one of the very few times in his career,and get some very good one liners, as well,as a couple of Lee/Cushing 'in jokes' about their previous Hammer,movies too 
Peter Cushing did not want to be in the movie and tried to get out of making it, as his beloved wife Helen had recently died.But Christopher Lee, persuaded him,so Peter did the movie as a favour to Christopher .Which is quite ironic,as the role of Dr Wells is possibly one Peters best ( and most liked ) screen performances.There's even a great cameo from Tele' Savalas. |

Thanks to you mentioning Tyrone Power a while ago,I have now got 28 DVD
and managed to download a very old movie of his called Suez. quite historical, with a beautiful 24 year old Tyrone power. he was a dam good actor .The movie was 70 years old and the effects won awards. trying to find Mississippi gambler but it isn't to be found.

I think my most favorite British classic is this one. It's not especially bloody but it's real intense and when the Zulu warriors are doing their singing and chanting it raises goosebumps on my arms. There's a bit of descrepency of Private Hook's character in the movie that his decendents thought was false, but over all it's a real fine movie. I'd love to have a copy of this one some day. The way those Zulu honored the last of those brave soldiers was awesome.  |

I watched a movie of his a few weeks ago "King Of The Kyber Rifles". Tyrone played A half-caste British officer in 19th-century India fighting the prejudices of both his Army colleagues and the local populace while trying to help put down a rebellion led by a greedy local ruler.As well as the jealousy of his "brother "officers, when the Generals daughter fell in love with him. |

Sometimes at our local video/book store I can find old gems like this. Just a matter of being patient and then 'Bingo'!  Thanks for the link. Maybe it'll be operational some day soon. |
