Are there any other east coast people out there getting ready for Hannah? I'm watching MSNBC at the moment, and they're saying there's now tornado warnings up in Virginia Beach.
We are suppose to get the heavy rains & high winds later on today, although I felt the winds picking up as early as yesterday afternoon. On my way home from work, they were almost blowing me off the highway, so as soon as I got the bike home, I switched to the car.
Jeez, I just hope we don't lose power, although I'm getting the laundry all done so that there's nothing on the floor in the cellar incase we flood. TG for sump pumps!
Also have the flashlights in order, the generator is full of gas, etc. I just hope the cable doesn't go out, there are too many great college games on to be sitting here without TV. 
Anyone else out there waiting for the storm? |

Hi steve!
Was just wondering when you were going to ask about the storm coming your way..I hope you are safe and your power doesent go out...At least you got your laundry done...Did you get enough food for the week if it gets bad your way? Are you near the coast or more inward of your state. You told me once but i can't remember...
We got drenched by the remains of hurricane Gustav on Wed and Thurs. of this week and some parts around here could use it. We got about 4 inches of rain here in a 24 hour period, but the ground was so dry the soy beans and corn sucked it right up and so did my flowers.
Let us know how your doing and stay safe....
Do you think you'll have school next week if Ike turns your way?

Hey Diana!
Not to worry, we are inland northern Jersey, but my dad lives right at the beach in central Jersey, so he'll be worse off than us. Yes, I have plenty of supplies in, so we're fine. Just worried about the cellar flooding, thats always a joy to deal with, and with 4 inches of rain it's inevitable. It usually floods around 2..... 
It just started to downpour here. I thought I could get one last trip out to Best Buy to get a few CD's, and dammit if it didn't start pouring the minute I got there. What a ride home, at least I was smart enough to bring the car!  Oh well, it worth it for John Coltrane's new CD.
And as for Ike, I'm not even going to think about it.........

Tomorrow's good for me. We were house bound for most of the day getting ready, so I took the kids out to dinner, even though the storm was bearing down.
Not to bad so far, although the cellar is flooding, have to keep up with the water at this point (9:30) and that's why I got off the IM earlier.

Hey folks!
All's good here, things weren't as bad as they predicted. A few limbs down, but no loss of power or anything like that. A few inches of water in the cellar, but nothing a push broom and the sump pump couldn't handle.
Today is bright sunshine, and the NFL. Who could want more than that?
