WARNING!

Something is wrong with that link. I clicked on it, it locked up my computer and then I had to unplug my power cord.

But to put it in perspective, I was climbing around the warehouse, about 15 feet from the concrete floor, when I stepped on an empty pallet and lost my balance. Almost dropped head first. Better luck next time, huh?

I was trying to catch up on this 'thriving' board and just my luck to click on that video Hillbilly T. I agree with Johnny T that was a cruel trick, perhaps you didn't know it would cause such havoc on pc's. The part I was able to read was "You just got Rick Rolled Bitch!" Shocked I had to totally shut down my computer and restart...scary actually with threats of viruses always present. And would hate to present my husband with another messy computer problem. Crying or Very sad

I can usually tolerate a lot from folks here because I know that there is a lot of joking going on, but what Hillbilly did was just plain inexcusable in my opinion.

I don't often wish for someone to be banned, but I do think that if Hillbilly ever pulls a stunt like this again, he should be sent packing.

Not only did it cause computer problems, but I especially do not appreciate being called a bitch. It was uncalled for.

Hillbilly, if you are reading this, at least you could come and extend an apology. And don't go blaming your son either. YOU, my friend are the adult and should be MAN enough to admit that you were wrong and own up to what you did.

I can tell you this. I will NEVER open one of your posts again for as long as I am here. I make my living on my computer and cannot afford to have something go wrong.

You know what, I posted this on two forums. This one, and a car forum I belong to. The reactions to video have been 180 degrees out from each other (in other words, they loved it at the car site). It was a joke. It wasn't intended to be malicious or damaging. All one had to do was simply hit Ctrl, Alt, Delete to bring up thier task manager and close the window. It even says it on the window if you took time to read it. About the bitch thing, I honestly didn't see that. I was too busy chasing the window to try and close it. For those who were offended, I apologize. For those who think I was using my son as a scape goat, that was a joke too. If you think I should be banned, tell Paul, I don't really care. I don't spend that much time here anyway. And even when I am here, I don't feel like anyone cares. Have a good day.

Hillbilly, I post on another BBS where folks "Rick Roll" you
all the time. They'll disguise it in a thread and say
"watch this". The typical response from the victim is

That's a Rick Roll you as#)*&%^(^&%&%&(&^%(&^%&^%&^

The NY Mets had an actual online vote as to what song should
be played at Shea during 7 inning stretch or something. The Board members,
there are tens of thousands, started voting by the truckload, one member
actually went to the game and taped "Never gonna give you up" at the game
and posted it to Youtube.

We have to notice the different sensibilities of certain BBS
and guard against letting one spill over into the other. That's what
I try to do anyway

When I hit control alt delete, and then the button to close the window, I got pop up message that said, "you have been Rick Rolled Bitch." Then, instead of closing the window, it closed out everything. If I could have, I would have taken a screen shot of it to post here as proof.

Perhaps the next time you want to post something like that, put up a warning sign.

As for whether or not you should be banned, that is not my call. For anyone who knows me here, I am usually a very forgiving person and am willing to reach out to anyone... even the troll we had a week ago. As for nobody caring, I get that feeling a lot, but then I realize it is not that people don't care, it is just that I have lost touch with my own inner self and have lost my sense of inner peace and am passing that perception on to outsiders.

Now, go kiss the lizard and stand in the corner for an hour. Cool Arrow

Or, people can get Macs and not have everything make their computers vulnerable.

In any case, okay, the extent of that particular Rick Roll site was flat-out obnoxious, and I had to force-quit Safari. But Rick Rolling has become a rather popular trick on the web, and generally good-natured. Granted, it's probably less irritating to couch a YouTube link to it via a website like tinyurl.com

Lesson learned, there was an apology. Big deal. It's obvious nothing malicious was intended here.

I have to admit that I find it amazing how crappy Windows and IE are that a link like that brings down whole computers. If that link causes prolonged errors to your computer other than having to kill your browser or have to reboot, you have larger issues. Seriously.

Unfortunately a Mac is not compatable with the company I work for. They are not set up to handle Macs.

Oh well, with that said. I can see where some would think that it was a funny joke. I am just glad that I am not one of those folks who surfs the web while working. At least I was on a break.
