| Quote: | LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - William Shatner sat in a drab office staring at a TV monitor displaying a message he was supposed to read to a fan while signing an autograph, but "Star Trek's" Captain Kirk wasn't very happy.
"I can't do this, this is crazy," Shatner said.
The message on screen -- which was submitted by the fan -- was just too odd. But as an investor and partner in Live Autographs, a new video service in which celebrities appear on camera to deliver a personalized greeting as they sign an autograph, Shatner had to say something.
"Are you nuts? You want me to say, 'When I'm smoking and sipping whiskey with Allen' -- who's Allen? -- 'I'm secretly thinking of you and your dog?' | http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080814/wl_canada_nm/canada_shatner_col_1
Bill, Do you have the option to refuse the requests that seem too rudely obnoxious and just plain disrespectful?
I mean, I process phone orders for hundreds of people every week and although most of my callers are customers really wanting to order products, I do get my share of pranksters. Lord knows, I need the money, but under NO circumstances will I put up with fowl-mouthed pranksters and have the option to end those calls.
Honestly, Sometimes I think that folks take advantage of professionals (actors, celebs, and even store clerks) because they know the person has to maintain a professionalism for the sake of a personal or company image. |

| I added a brief excerpt from the article, in case someone was wondering why I was asking the question. |
