LOL!
I view riding in the rain as a test of character.....
Yeah, it's uncomfortable, but I like to laugh at all the "tough" guys out there that put their Harley's away when the weather people predict rain. My new Triumph, as well as my old Kawasaki, never go into hybernation, not even in January. Unless there's ice or snow, I ride all year round. I've had my bike license for 31 years now, so I guess I'm pretty safe. Only 1 accident, and that's because I was an idiot. So no worries.
Today is turning out to be a great day. Mary finally finished all her AP summer course work, and quickly headed off to a friends house for a sleepover. OK, 1 down.
Then, my brother Brian stopped over, and asked if he could have Bridget for the rest of the day. Seems he and his friends had an unexpected extra ticket for Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick up at Woodstock, and knew she loved those bands, so off she went. 2 down.
Now it's just me and Alice. Very quiet around here! I think Alice and I will have a "daddy date" later. I'll take her out to dinner. She likes to have one on one time with me.
How's everyone else's day panning out? |

Afternoon everyone!
How's your day going?
I got up fairly late this morning, and got the lawn work out of the way. Then I had to take the girls out to finish the back to school shopping. Man, I hate shopping! They take so long to pick out stuff. When I go I know what I need, get it and get out. Seems like my kids have to try on everything in the darn store!
It's a little after 4pm here, and we are finally home! Right now, I'm watching the Louisville/Kentucky game. Finally, FOOTBALL!
Tonight, I'm BBQ'ing a nice steak, and going out to my garage, put on some Sinatra and finally detail my bike.
What's everyone else up to out there?
Hope you're having a good one.....
Peace,
Steve |

Well, my little Weber grill finally went to that big steak house in the sky, and i bought a new one at Wal-Mart and am trying to put it together. i have potatoe salad, lettuce salad in the fridge, Brats sausages and cheese hot dogs thawing inthe fridge and pork & beans inthe cupboard all ready for the cook out tomorrow. My Mom, me , Samantha, Hannah, Bud and my Dad are having food here so I need to clean the house, fuzzy's cages and birdies cages before the riot...er party starts in the back yard. It's going to be so hot here tomorrow you could fry the brats on the hood of the car as it's going to be 91 here and high humidity.
I am going to go to the petshop to do some work to get some gas money on Wed as my SSI is gone and I need some extra cash like now....Then Tue i am going to go take Hannah for her drivers liscence which ought to be good....I think she will pass but it will be a nail biter as some times my car can be tempramental asnd the signal some times goes out...
Pray she passes!!!!!

A riot in the backyard? Man, I wish I lived closer, sort of bored here. Most everyone I know went away for the weekend, but I just didn't want to deal with the traffic down at the beach.
Hannah will do just fine on her test, no worries. I'll give a little prayer up for her tonight, even though she won't need it.
You going to be on IM tonight? |

Yesterday was one of these days you like to put a ribbon on
Sunny and warm.
Wonderful compagnie.
Great food and NO pain
We spend the day with the kids, well my son and daughter in law that is,she's like my own daughter so ...
After weeks of rain and temperatures far to law at this time of the year the sun came out and the temp reached a hight of 90
It was so great to feel that sun on my old bones that I fell asleep on the lawn
Pat my son, cooked up a fantastic meal of home made bread and spicy chickensoup followed by sweet and sour lambsteaks and stirfried noodles.
Boy, that kid can COOK
No ice this time, but a bowl of fresh summer fruit soaked in chesnut honey and rosewater....MMMMMM yummy
No need to say that when we got home I tumbled in to bed and slept like a baby
Today the weather has changed again, it's dark and cold and I bet it's going to rain again
Ah well...JUST the right kind of weather to go sort out my wardrobe and get rid of that load of cloths I'm not going te wear any more
There's a shop around the corner over here where I always bring what ever I dont need any more and they distribute it to those less fortunate.
So in a way my loss is their gain
For now I'm going to have my first coffee though and some yoghurt and then....it's OFF to the wardrobe
Sleep well you all !!!
PS.
Oh and DIANA, I will say a little prayer Hannah will pass her test
MARY... hubby will find work soon.... |

Could be something random, fun, sad, etc. Just something that happened that you wanted to share.
Sounds sort of dorky, I know. But maybe it'll be a way we can get to know a little more about each other.
So what did you do today?
I watched my neice & nephews in the morning so my sister could visit our aunt in the hospital. She had a hysterectomy because of cancer, but everything seems to have turned out OK, and this afternoon I helped my uncle get her home.
Took Bridget to the Dr's 'cause I thought she had strep. She didn't. Took a ride, and now am making pork chops on the grill.
Tonight I'm looking forward to watching House.
OK your turn. What did you do today? |
Had a drink, with the boys after a hard day's Grail searching

You always have pretty sounding things to eat and drink, Pippa! Is this what all the Dutch like to eat or have you picked up recipes from other cultures. Just wondering. We're pretty boring over here and it sounds so fascinating over your way. |

Morning Angel
Well thank you for the compliment girl
But I'm afraid NOT all us Dutch eat like this.
Pat learned his cooking skills from me and I'm a pretty adventures and good cook if I say so myself.
So at a very young age he saw me make the most intriquing food mixtures, like chesnut honey and rosewater soaked fruit...
Whenever I didn't have the money to buy expencive food I experimented with what I did have or was able to buy.
That's how my Merenques with fried ice and I mean REAL genuine ICE-CREME started life 32 years ago as did the chesnut honey and rosewater soaked fruit |

Good Morninig everyone!
I just rolled out of bed to catch the hurricane coverage from New Orleans on CNN. I see the storm has downgraded to a catagory 2, and I sure hope the levees hold. Those people down there have been through too much already. Anderson Cooper and crew look like they are getting the crap kicked out of them by those winds. Now they are saying the next hurricane on the way, Hannah, could reach Georgia by the weekend. Batten down the hatches Gorn!
Sweet & sour lamb chops sounds really great Pippa, any way you could get the recipe from your son? I'm always looking for new stuff to make for the kids. Did you grill them? In the summer, I try to cook everything outside so the house doesn't get too hot.
My dog Mel is driving me crazy at the moment. He started this annoying habit of taking a mouthful of food and spitting it back out on the kitchen floor so he can pick & choose the pieces he likes best to eat. Then he leaves the rest all over the place. This latest bad habit is leaving piles of dogfood all over the house. He's taken it so far as to bring it out in the living room while I'm watching TV and spitting it out under the coffee table, and then watching TV and eating. Stupid dog!
Hey Brit, next time you and the guys go out grail hunting, mind if I tag along?
So how's everyone else doing this fine day? We have nothing on the agenda so far, and it's warm & sunny, so I might just hit the road in a few.
Have a great day,
Peace,
Steve |
