Pippa, maybe your daughter and Diana could come over to my place and help with the house cleaning..... Seriously, I've been avoiding the whole house thing as we are getting ready to go away and I'll have to deal with it when I get back anyway. I'm sure the dogs and cats will have a field day around here, and I'll have a job cut out for me when I get back. They love their pet sitter, but make life miserable for me when I'm not here.
Cat, always glad to hear from you. Got any fresh coffee?
SMB, good luck with the Priceline pitch~! And I do hope that your financial situation improves soon. I've been there and done that enough to know how frustrating it can be.
Diana, sorry to hear that Hannah is having problems again, here's praying that they get that all straightened out.
I should be on IM later on if you are around, but that's if Bridget's friends get picked up at a decent time. You never know around here.
Hey, just thinking guys, if you want this thread to continue, I'll be away from the comp for about a week starting Friday afternoon, but if you keep it going, that would be great. If not, we'll just let it die. My sister has a laptop at the house, but it's her work comp, and I don't want to ask to use it. I'll try to get to the library to check in, but you never know.
I enjoy reading about everyone's day though.
Peace, Steve |
Steve,
My best cleaning tip for you:
I get a box or a bag and pick up all the junk laying around. I leave the box in the kitchen or living room for a week and if it's not put away by them, then i guess they don't want it that bad and it gets tossed. The stuff is usually put away within a few hours as I had made good on my threats a few times and thrown away stuff they had wanted. now if it's like ipods or expensive stuff then I don't pitch it, I keep it and they don't get it for another week till they can pick it up and put it away.
My day began ad 5 am today when the neighbor loudly left for work in his giant utility truck for the rail road...that thing rattles so bad!!!
Hannah is getting ready for her blood draw and we have to be at the hospital early this morning. i hate waiting all day to do tests so we are going in early to beat the rush and avoid sitting there for an hour
Then it's home to do the dishes and do some work on my crochet projects and my Storm trooper armor. Pretty cloudy here today and may have some rain. Only 75 here today but warmer tomorrow and near 85 by Saturday.

Now, that is funny! Man, those 2 guys sound like they'd be wild at a party!
I arose, like a nut, a oh five-hundred hours today. During a break, I filmed a couple minutes of people playing "rennis" a combination of racketball and tennis. I'm putting togther some costumes for a film later tonight. Made some title boards for the film, one of which says, "..and the melee continues." |

Today was another insane day. Trying to get teenagers to pack for vacation is miserable business! You'd think that they would be happy to get it together so we can get out of here early tomorrow, but it's like pulling teeth with this crew of mine.
Then I realized that we needed dog food, so I ran over to Walmart again, and my aunt & uncle called while I was there to see if I could stop over to help them out with the computer. Ed is the president of the Rotary here in town, and hasn't a clue as to how to use the damn computer. Eleanor is his personal secretary, so that became my job today. I had to check e-mails and write some while he dictated. That took 2 hours out of my day, which I really couldn't afford.
Just got home, and was hoping to take a ride tonight on the bike just to relax a bit, since I won't be able to for the next week since we'll be away. Of course, we now have a severe thunderstorm warning, and it's dark out there, so I guess I'm house bound tonight. I would ride in the rain, but then I would have to detail the bike before we left tomorrow, and there's no time. This sucks!
So that's been my day so far.
How's it going for you guys? |

Thanks for asking abut my father. actually, his doctor has made him ill. he went to see him because of shortness of breath and general lack of energy. The guy is 81 and has had a quintuple heart by-pass. The doctor said it was a chest infection and took him OFF his normal heart meds so he could take antibiotics. Dad proceeds to get worse and worse until he's hospitalised for his symptoms, despite having complained to his doctor several times. turns out it was his heart all along (hardly rocket science) At least now he's had his meds streamlined under a cardiologist and is feeling much better.
Today not much happened except I nearly got into 2 fights in the same car park. Once because a car actually overtook me to get to the first free space when I'd been patiently waiting for the lady to be able to get out and secondly because a couple parked their monster of a SUV (pet hate #536) in a handicapped bay. My kids reckon that's how I will meet my end, seeing an injustice and interfering as they see it, doing my citizenly duty as I see it! |

Wild post! I avoid doctors at all costs. Hope your dad continues to get better.
Your experience in the parking lot is so similar to what happens over here. Then you have these parking lot nazis who make sure you're patronizing the business designed for the lot or they'll tow your car. I had a big, fat parking lot nazi follow me (unknowingly) across the street and into a building trying to get me. I run wherever I go, so when fatty, fatty 2 X 4 finally caught up to me, he was all out of breath and radical. I told him I'd move my car immediately and gave him grief the whole way back. Then ol' chubmeister takes down my license plate! I was all like, "Go ahead and call the cops on me! I'll be long gone and you'll look like a fool wasting their time."
During a later visit to Neato Burrito, the building that I was visiting, the owner actually called the cops on the parking lot nazi. He said he didn't like the nazi "harassing his regular customers". Well, I had nothing to do with calling the cops but I appreciate the guy backing me up. I used to park there all the time and no one minded. The damn lot is always empty and the adjoining lot is always full. |

My day went down the tubes the minute I got up...
1.I found out I had poison ivy on my legs and not skeeter bites....
2. Trying to get results on Hannahs blood tests is like pulling teeth out of a hen's mouth....
3.I got the run around on Samantha being put back in public schools again and am having problems getting her in due to state health laws (she is missing two series of shots due to severe reactions to the first set)and just jerky people....
4. i had to go get copies of Hannah's medical records for SSA so they could process her claim since for some reason they never got the papers or they weren't requested even tho they mattered to her case...Now it could be 3 more months before we know..
5 Dinner was not easy to fix when you have not much here..hot dogs and beans here we come again...

OK... here goes. My daughter, Hannah, is not too good this week. She's 19 and was supposed to test her senior freestyle on Wednesday, but she felt queasy and pulled.
She's testing this weekend at Summer Provincials and does her short program tomorrow and her long (for testing) on Sunday. But the double axel is eluding her (she had a wicked one last year) and now she has to show up without it and go up against the National Champion (Joannie Rochette) and former National Champion (Cynthia Phaneuf). These ladies have 7 triples...
After her practice today, well, let's just say her boyfriend had to rescue her from a tree...
So... if you have a spare prayer or two... we could use some. |

Take calamine lotion and water it down, soak a paper towel in it, wring it out and lay it over the affected area... will take the heat and itch down some. Good for jelly fish stings too.
2. Trying to get results on Hannahs blood tests is like pulling teeth out of a hen's mouth....
You have a Hannah too?! Honestly, I've given up on public medicare.. I'd rather pay the $200 bucks and get a private clinic to do it.. Results guaranteed.

OK... no advice on that... but I hear the frustration and anger. I went up against the public school system for my Sarah ... lost... different reason - same mentality.

Got back from our mini-vacation visiting my daughter, grandchild and son-in-law in Canada last night. Feels good to be home.
Left around 6 am and didn't get home til 11:30 pm. Took a side trip to Ottawa Ontario to take a peek in the Archives building (was looking up records of hubby's grandfather (he was a citizen of Canada before he moved to the states) and was thrilled to find the information he was seeking.
Went to bed sipping on chamomile tea (relaxed me enough so I could get some sleep). Have to go to work today-am working the closing shift. I hope everyone's day will be a good one. |

back from competition - H's double axel was great in the air but with a fall on the landing - coach and kid are at odds with each other and from experience, best for me to stay out of the cross hairs until tempers cool and cooler heads prevail.
dumped an old couch at the recycling center, ate leftover pasta to settle a nervous stomach and now headed for much needed rest on the backyard swing (it's a 3 seater with a tent roof and mosquito netting all around - I call it my pseudo summer house:) |

Today, I typically woke up. In the morning, no less! I was in an insane mood. Again, very typical. I thought I'd call my various suppliers and demand huge price discounts. Just cold call them and and place an order only if I can get a 60% discount or more. I'll call the sales rep and say something like, "What, I've been a customer of yours for over 20 years with different employers and you won't give me a 60% discount?" "What incentive do I have to stay loyal?" "Has the world gone mad?? Where's my discount?"
Here's a fun video! It's called, "Balloon Tag".
