IMO, you're doing the right thing.
It just affirms our decision to remain DINKS. |

Usualy sisters talk about things parents dont have a CLUE about !
You could ask at school IF something has been noticed there as well.
And finaly...is she acting up since she had that date ?
I mean some girls feel so mature after they started dating that they think they KNOW it all !!!
And like Sue Mary said.....we are here for you ! |
Good Morning Pippa!
You know, I think you might have something there. Right about the time the attitude changed is about the time she started dating Jueng. I would of never thought about that. That's when she started thinking she was on equal ground with me.
She got up this morning and went back downstairs and put the TV on. I followed her down, turned it off, and told her she had bathrooms (2) to clean. So that's where she is right now. I guess she got tired of being hungry and alone.
We still aren't talking, but that's OK, I can use the peace & quiet. |

At least the little lights are starting to come on and she is doing some work...Good for her to see that nothing in life is free and that you her Dad, had to work very hard to give her that home, food and bed she sleeps in at night.

The SEIGE is over! At least for the time being...
Yesterday while I was out in the garage recovering the kitchen chairs, Mary stuck her head out the door and said "It's taking too much energy to be a *b*, so I've decided I'm going to talk to you again". That was it. She shut the door and walked away. I though OK......
There was a midnight book party at Borders last night for the release of Breaking Dawn, and Bridget was going with her friends. I guess Mary thought that since she talked to me she might be able to go too. I said no.
Later on, she sat down with me and asked, "Is the car really gone?" I said yes.
So she finally came out on the porch last night and we had a long talk. My brother offered her a job at his law firm starting in September. Two nights a week and 4 hours every Saturday morning. Just filing and making copies, stuff like that. 10-12 hours a week, and I told her she IS going to take the job. And if she messes up or embarasses me in front of him, this little war will be like a water gun fight.
So I guess for now, all is again peaceful in my world. Until next time...
Thanks for all the great advice and support. I know I can always count on you guys to help me out.

Sounds as if you're doing all the right things. The only note of caution I would sound is be careful of assigning roles. If Bridget has the "helpful one" sewn up, there isn't much room for Mary. I can remember when mine were a lot smaller than yours, Joe was almost supernaturally generous but when Will gave somebody else the last chocolate button Joe didn't like that at all and said plaintively, "but I'm the generous one!"
I teach a lot of kids that I find infuriating but sometimes all it takes is finding something positive to say to them and the change is extraordinary (and believe me, sometimes it's really hard to find that positive thing!) |
