Enjoyed seeing the pics of Shatner's Kentucky house! As a Kentuckian, I'm proud that our state has a connection to the BEST Enterprise Captain, a talented actor, and a big-hearted individual.

I thought Mr. Shatner and the other BB members would enjoy this recent plant I found at Yew Dell Gardens (http://www.yewdellgardens.org/), located in Louisville, Kentucky. (I don't know anything about how it was named or who named this particular variety; your guess is as good as mine.)

It's a beautiful place. If you're curious, more pictures from the garden are at my blog:

(Note: I've tried using BBCode to post the picture directly but it's not working; however, you can't miss it on the blog, and click the picture for a larger image. Sorry!)

The best Enterprise captain is right! Went to the link and saw "Man and Technology". Did it remind you of Allstate Insurance?

Good ol' Hellboy II! Wouldn't it be cool if they made it into a 3-D movie like Journey to the Center of the Earth?

Welcome!!

I checked out the link, and the flower. Really beautiful and exotic looking, it looks like something that might be encountered on an alien planet by Kirk. Very Happy I sure couldn't pronouce the name.

First of all, thanks to all that visited the link and looked at the pics.

Johnny, I agree . . . the hand sculpture looks iconic. Would fit right in on a set of TOS.

Cat: how to pronounce? I hear ya. I'd love to get more info on the plant; perhaps the people that run Yew Dell know more.

But especially, thanks to Littlestar for getting the pic to properly post (what alliteration!) on the board! Dunno what I was doing wrong...guess I'll learn.

As a newbie, look forward to reading the board and posting in the future. Especially when the new Trek movie comes out. I have a feeling the grumbling is already starting...

If you talk to the guys at the garden center, could you ask them if this variety is available anywhere in New Jersey, and if not, can they ship?
I need to have this plant included in my landscaping. Very Happy
What Trekkie wouldn't want a Captain Kirk in their garden? Laughing Laughing
(and Littlestar knows how meticulous I am about my yard.)

Steve

http://www.directsourcehostas.com/Captain_Kirk.html

http://www.perennialresource.com/index. ... nt_id=1026

These are some sites that talk about "Hosta Captain Kirk". It looks like it can be ordered, but may be hard to find in stock.

I wouldn't mind having one of those myself. They like shade, and we have a lot of shady areas that need something. Of course, not as good as having the "real" Captain in my yard....... but......... Wink
