I understand your hesitant about Rx but IMO "better living through chemistry". Cool

Valerian Root does help me too but when it doesn't I have my Rx. It's not dependency it's just being prepared; for me.

Hope you "stay level".

Best.

Shocked

I suffer from panic attacks since I was 20 years old and I have had a few years of freedom from them...but since the bills are piling up, health issues are attacking my two girls now and I'm getting frustraited with my ex husbands stinking attitude twords me and the kids..my panic attacks have returned..I can know how you are feeling Pippa and they can be frightening but they are managable and meds are an option for some people. I am not as the side effects are worse than the problem..

What I do is I become aware of myself and "ground" myself by touching my finger tips with my thumb and go do some thing challenging to my brain...I.E. work on a puzzle, do a word find game do something to take your m ind off how you are feeling at the moment and give your body a break momentarily on how you are feeling. I listen to music for half an hour a day on a cd player with the head phones on...some music that is good for the brain to listen to is classical..and easy listening..rock and rolll is out as it adjitates the brain too much...for meI listen to Barry Manilow or John Denver..or some classical music that has a lot of harp and piano music in it. if you need a pick me up listen to happy music.. if you need no stimilous then listen to classical..the music forces the brain to release certain endorphins that heal the brain and make it less susceptible to panic attacks..

Also.. getting enough sleep is another!!!when your tired GO TO BED.....

I hope all this info helps you from all of us

HUGS

Diana, I hate NOT being in controle of my body, but I think your personal methode of touchting your vingers with your thumb is one that could work for me as well ...

There are those that say that chocolate isn't good for you, but I don't believe that for a second.

Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Pippa ! panic attacks are part of my life, but a wise doctor of mine said to me, a panic attack is your mind loosing control, all you have to do is , take charge again of your mind, to bring the attack under control.

Took me a while to work this out. but he is correct with a little though and calmness created say by, a brisk walk, maybe a Box of those chocolates Littlestar, or the puzzles Diana. For me if I can, a walk outside. beside my tribute garden. Dedicated to all my family who are now at rest. Making me think how lucky I am to be still alive . Medication is not needed if you become aware that only you can calm your anxiety.

Last one I had was the day I became ill in LA at the Shatner weekend. My BP dropped like a stone when after being in 100 dg heat we went into a very cold Kodak theatre. Sandy and Jane were looking after me. but the fear of maybe having to miss planes.or them calling medics, and being so far away from home, compounded the illness. it took all my resolve to overcome this anxiety attack. my body was just this trembling mess. when I got back to my room. a cup of tea, and I actually watched "House" a series I cant stand, and this directed my brain away from the attack. I also had a view of the Hotel garden and this helped.

so I had heat stroke, Low BP, and a panic attack. and thousand of miles away from home. I always say to myself, Come On Old Girl Pull Yourself Together!. My Late Friend Nancy used to say this as well:)

a footnote the gang all reckoned it was too much Shatner SmileSmile

Take care Pippa

Daisy Smile

Thank you Daisy.
I think that's the right word, I have to do it myself.
But it's a GREAT comfort to have all of you wanting to support me and giving advice !

And Diana.....my 2th chocolate bar just melted in my mouth Wink
