| who from this forum has registered at TVLand.com with my Shatner BBS nick? Whoever it is, in my view, is a denebian slime-devil. |

Well, that was me, of course! I thought to myself, it would be good to add to the many posts requesting Dennis the Menace. There are a lot of them! Then I thought, what name would have the most clout at TV Land. The choice was clear to me! Morgram with a capital "M"! Now, TV Land has even more people expressing their discontent with TV Land's programming.
I thought it was a pretty good post! What did you think?
Morgram, if you have a paypal account, I'm willing to send you 50 bucks for the Dennis the Menace DVD's. I have the money now. I have to buy a new toilet and some vinyl tile (ceramic is just too damn expensive! When I saw the price, I almost had a heart-attack!) for the bathroom so I don't know how long I'll have this money in my account. Just an offer, if you want to watch Dennis and Margaret any time you feel like it. |

| I thought it was Harry. No paypal account. I never order stuff off the web. Why don`t you rip the discs and post the avi files somewhere like www.Guba.com then I can download them. If you do rip them, make sure that you have the frame rate set correctly or the movement of the video will be jerky. Since Dennis is TV fare and these are DVDs we`re talking about, the frame rate should be 29.97 fps. I`m a VCD man so the aspect ratio should be 4:3 and the video scale size 352 by 240. Anything I can do technical-wise, Johnny, don`t hesitate to ask. If you need encoder software I heartily recommend SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) I also use WinAVI Video Converter but it`s not free. If you do rip them and post the files at Guba, I and many others will once again be able to enjoy Dennis the Menace. Thanks! |

Well, to upload a 4.5 gig file is...well, time-consuming and not as practical as sending you the DVD's. Considering there are 4 disks, it would probably take me days to complete.
What if I send you the DVD's and maybe you could rip 'em up? Does that sound like a step in the right direction? Just getting the DVD's to begin with? |

| Thanks for your most generous offer, Johnny, but Dennis will eventually show up on the web in some form between now and next year. I wouldn`t want all the episodes, just ones from seasons 1 thru 3. The fourth season episodes with Gale Gordon are absolutely worthless so you can exclude them. I would suggest that whenever you find yourself with some free time, you rip the episodes individually and convert them to compressed avi files and upload them to Guba incrementally whenever you can. A compressed avi of say a 25 minute episode would only be in the neighborhood of 125 to 250 megabytes. Of course if you are just too unfamiliar with working with vob files and converting between different formats, I certainly would understand your reluctance in taking on such a project. |
