| I have been putting in some late night hours the past few nights. Are there any other late night working folks out there? |

I was up!!! In Detroit that is.... I got home around 2am from Motley Crue Fest.
I am usually up all night, though. I work midnights, but don't have internet access there.... |

Hi vampyregirl! I have been working midnight til 8 this past week. The money is better and it is quiet. It has been storming in the afternoons lately so working during the day is sort of iffy.
I am on a short break right now. |

| I used to work a graveyard shift for 4 and 1/2 years. I hope I'll never have to do that again. |

At least for me, I am working in the comfort of my own home. It is totally by choice and I can go back to a regular day shift anytime. It is just that I find this time of night quiet and peaceful with little or no distractions. Plus, I can make twice as much money during the night as during the day.
And no, I am not a "lady of the night."
Well, maybe, but not the kind one thinks. |

That's cool! There certainly are advantages to working at night. I worked with some people who loved it. One guy said it saved his marriage! With me, I had trouble convincing people I needed to get SOME sleep during the day. |

I know what you mean about the sleeping thing!!!! You get no respect from anyone. There are reasonable amounts of noise (people talking, traffic, lawn mowers, snow blowers), but then there's the excess unnecessary stuff on top of that (stereos blasting, people yelling, excessive dog barking).
Since my neighbors had to put their older dog down, it's been pretty quiet around here. I don't worry when I have the air on--it drowns out everything--but I hate having that thing going!!! Not only am I cheap ( ), but I just hate being cooped up inside!!! I want fresh air!!!! Except today!!!!! It's really gross here and going to get worse over the next couple of days!!!! YUCK!!!
Ear plugs really help too. I have the ones that you have to squish down and put into your ears. Then they puff back up to conform to your ear. They're weird at first, but I got used to them. |

Our street is pretty quiet. Living on the far end of a dead-end road has its advantages..... little traffic, plus most folks stay inside during the hot part of the day and that is when I sleep. |

I swear I live on the busiest dead-end street in this town!!!! Actually, it has slowed down a bit. A lot of the older teens graduated from high school and have moved out.
Now we have the younger crowd with small children starting to move in. It's not too bad, except when they're running around screaming!!!! They mostly do that in the evening, though. Their parents are working during the day, so the kids usually aren't around. Except at my neighbors' house. She babysits for a living, so there's kids there during the day. Although, she doesn't have too many there now. Only 6 total, and they're usually not there all at the same time. With it being so hot, she doesn't bring them outside anyway.
It's just miserable here. In the lower 90's and high humidity. YUCKY!!!! And my lawn needs mowed something fierce!!! I need to do that before I can even set up my pool!!! I have a 3 ring blow up one that can hold 8 people. Not too big, not too small. And no filter to put up with!!!! WOO HOO!!!! Don't want to set up the pool on long grass. It'll make a slimy mess underneath!!! Ick!!! Shorter grass will just turn brown and crispy until the spring!! |
