In last weeks episode, the Top Gear gang went to Japan, to see if a car was faster than the Bullet Train.
The starting point was a small beach on Japan's west coast, while the finish line was a monument to the Buddha of road safety, which is located half-way up Mount Nokogiri-yama.Some 400 miles to the east, Jeremy would be piloting the Nissan GTR along a network of motorways, before having to navigate his way through ,Tokyo's rush hour traffic. Richard and James meanwhile had to negotiate their way onto a series of trains, buses, and even a cable car, to reach their destination. So, while Jeremy was busy trying to break the sound barrier, the other two had to contend with the language barrier instead.

| That was a great show wasn't it? Can you believe that a train that is 1 minute overdue is considered late? Over here if it arrives at all you feel lucky. |

I can vouch for the excellence of trains in Tokyo. The only time they are delayed is if there is a typhoon, earthquake or a suicide. The service here, shames the UK - the inventor of trains.
However, Britain is not the worse place for delays. When I first went to India, I had a 12 hour delay at Jodhpur station, where I had to bed down in my sleeping bag for the night, just in case the train arrived. Dirty, cold and exotic, to say the least. |

I just saw this episode, the Atom looks really cool. What I want to know is, if he was going to do a proper test against a motorcycle, why didn't the use a CBR1000 instead of the 650?
I mean the car only beat the little bike by 4 seconds. |
