A teenager who thought movement in her underwear was caused by her vibrating mobile phone found a bat curled up asleep in her bra.

Abbie Hawkins, 19, of Norwich, had been wearing the bra for five hours when she plucked up the courage to investigate. When she did, she found a baby bat in padding in her 34FF bra. The hotel receptionist said she was shocked but felt bad for removing the "cuddly" bat. "It looked cosy and comfortable and I was sorry for disturbing it," she said.

She was sitting at her desk at work when she decided to investigate the strange movements in her underwear. "I put my hand down my bra and pulled out a cuddly little bat. Perhaps I should have left it there and given it a good home .That shocked me very much at the time, but it scuttled off under the desk into the dark. I was shaking from head to toe.

"It looked quite cosy and comfortable in there so it was quite rude of me to take it out.

Laughing Laughing Bats in the belfry or bats in the brazierre. Be difficult on which one to choose from. Tissues are better. That way you can always blow your nose if you have to. Laughing

The bra must have worked like a net in catching the bat.

We had a pet bat when I was in fourth grade. It had the softest fur you ever felt, and was about the size of my thumb (wingspan maybe 6 inches).

It got loose from it's cage one night and went flying around my parents bedroom. That was when we (they) decided to give it it's freedom.

I'm surprised that she didn't feel it when she was dressing- but as soft as they are and as small as some of them can be, maybe she could have not noticed (I think that's a bit of a stretch myself). I'm glad she didn't get bitten, they do have sharp teeth.

Yes they do carry rabies...in fact Lake and Cook county in Illinois have sent out warnings that 95% of the bats caught or found dead that were tested for rabies came back positive. 18 people in Lake county alone have come down with rabies after being bitten. One poor kid stepped on a DEAD bat in his Grandpa's yard while playing in his bare feet. He began to come down with symptoms and they couldn't find out how he had gotten bit. They found the puncture wound on his heel of his foot and the Grandfather remebered that the GRandson had com plained of steeping on something sharp while running though the yard. They found the dead bat inthe grass later and ran tests. It came back positive....... Sad

Oh Lordy, that's so scary! I'm always dreading that bats will get into the attic because the vent coverings have all come off of the eaves of the house. Besides the fact the bats carry rabies the fumes from the guano is probably dangerous because of diseases. And I don't want to be trying to force bats out of an attic by ourselves because exterminators are expensive!
