Cedar Fair, Hilton and CBS have decided to close Star Trek The Experience in Vegas.

The Experience is the Best theme park in the United States.

As an expat Australian, now a Permanent Resident in the United States for some years, I have travelled extensively here (and worldwide). America prides itself on great achievements. From the wonderful architecture of the great cities to the museums, galleries and national parks, this amazing country, built from so many cultures, is truly the leader of the world. Star Trek is iconic of this country in that it brings together many cultures and explores their societies making the world/universe a better place.

It is easy to become blase` when greatness abounds, however this mecca for Trekkies is important to Americans and people worldwide.

Hilton could be persuaded to re-lease the property (why bother going off the strip to the Hilton other than for the Experience), CBS would be happy to continue its licensing of the brand/exhibits, Cedar seems not to want it anymore.

Have you thought of purchasing it? Millions worldwide would be forever grateful.

I'm glad I had the chance to experience it at least once in my lifetime.

Welcome to the board.

I just took the backstage tour recently and they told me they have zero plans on closing. In fact, they're going to add "holosuites" to host weddings and have live entertainment.

And anyway, there is another reason to go to the Hilton. At least until the end of 2009. BARRY MANILOW!

God, Barry Manilow and Star Trek under one roof. Only thing better would be Barry Manilow in a Star Trek (Next Generation on like Jean Luc wore cause they're nice and skin-tight, yummy!) uniform. Captain Manilow of the Federation Star Ship Mandy....

Welcome aboard ST4EVA!!! Very Happy

I guess that I am probably the worst Star Trek fan in the universe. I don't do conventions because I think they type-cast the actors. I would much rather see them act in other roles, if they are not going to do any more trek roles.

I haven't visited the ST experience because I live too far away and besides, I have enough "Real Life" Trek adventures right here in Sunny Florida. Cool

oops! Did I say Sunny? There are thunder boomers bounding around me as I type. I may need to shut down for a while. Shocked Wink

At any rate, I am glad that some folks are enjoying the experiences and the conventions.
