Gotta wonder about any "community" that won't allow non-members to eyeball the goods. Like a fenced-in cult compound, lack of transparency can be a red flag for corruption.
Several scandals around Facebook indicate that its main purpose is to harvest our personal info for demographics marketing.
Apologies, if I appear the party-pooper.

Yes, I see that they changed it to reflect that. |

Don't want a Facebook account. It doesn't seem very exclusive if there's thousands of people waiting on your A list to be your friend. And what kind of friend?!? Ick! I've heard about some of the exploitive people on there who target kids and vulnerable individuals. This place is ok in the fact you have to log on. I think that sometimes the openness of this forum is a liability because of all the peepers and some of the things we talk about gets pretty personal. And some of the people who join and never post eventually let you know they're listening in. And that's disturbing too. I really don't want to start all over and try and decide whether these people who want to talk to me on Facebook are there to be friendly for friendly sake or have ulterior motives. Being here is gutsy enough for me. |

The only reason why I am on Facebook because my daughter is a member. We communicate more there than we do on MySpace.

I can understand your concern believe me.
And they should have more security on that website. |

| I haven't had these problems on Facebook. Their chat option is the suckiest suck that ever sucked, but you have the option to make your profile private to anyone not on your friends list. If you don't want to be friends with someone you don't know, you can just click the ignore option on their request, and they won't know that you've done so! I might be confused, is this the issue people seem to have with it? |

Facebook does take a bit of getting used to. I've been on there for several months and I'm constantly amazed at how people who I knew from ages ago find me.
It's the apps that drive me crazy and now MySpace has them...it's like apps wars. |
