I went to get on to my website and got this message:
| Quote: | | Due to a fire at our hosting facility, many of our servers were knocked offline. We are working to restore as many forums as possible from backups. Within a few days we expect full data restore to all forums affected. |

Fire at The Planet takes down thousands of websites
Faulty transformer blamed
By Drew Cullen, Published Sunday 1st June 2008 17:32 GMT
A fire at The Planet's H1 data center in Houston, Texas on Saturday has taken out thousands of websites.
In messages posted on the web hosting firm's forum, the company blamed a faulty transformer for the fire. No servers or networking equipment were damaged, but the data centre remains without power, after The Planet shut down all generators "as instructed by the fire department."
About 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers are affected by the outage. B3ta.com, a popular British comedy site, is a high profile casualty.
The Planet is posting hourly updates on its forum. It has five other data centers, which remain up and running.
Update
As at 5.06pm CDT, Monday power is restored to 6,000 servers. The remaining 3,000 servers, which were powered by the electricity room "where the explosion occurred", should be juiced up within two hours, The Planet boss Douglas Erwin wrote on the service update page. These servers will be offline again for a few hours next Saturday or the following Saturday, so that The Planet can rebuild the electrity room.

| Yeah, proboards are very easy to create and maintain. I use them all the time for hosting my online games. |

The hosts do a good job too. I have rarely had any problems and when they occur, their support site is great at solving issues quickly. They seemed to jump right into gear when their servers got damaged in the fire.
I use mine mainly as a blog and don't get too much traffic... only a few friends who have proboards sites also. Mainly a bunch of old girlfriends getting together for chit-chat. |

| What are Proboards? Do you have to pay for them like a website? |

No proboards are totally free. It's not a website. It's just a message board. |

Plus, you have the option to pay a small amount for an add free message board (I called my a website, but it really is a message board... well... as the boss says, "interweb.") It's a lot of fun and user friendly for those with limited experience in creating internet stuff. |
