Just heard about this. Seems to still be going on. Does anyone know how it happened? They said they were trying to save their film vaults. |

I don't know how it happened but I did hear that filming was going on when the fire started. The backlot streets of NY and New England are gone. I was out this afternoon in Burbank and traffic was all snarled and there was still big black billowing smoke coming from the fire.
I don't think anyone was hurt thankfully and I did hear that Universal Studios Theme Park was planning on opening today. |

Tha Back to the Future set has gone, that was used in so many films and series, Court house in Jordan for one.
At least I got to see them last October |

| I just hope that everyone is OK and that noone got hurt. If need be, they can rebuild the sets and surely there must be more than one copy of their films somewhere. |

| The films lost were the video copies and there is a second off site archive of them all. Fortunatly the original films are uneffected. Poor King Kong is gone. |

Wouldn't that be something if the only copies ended up being the ones sitting on our home video shelves? "Public to the rescue!"
I think I read somewhere that some of the original films were getting brittle from age and there was concern that they would just waste away. |

I believe the one you saw on the tour was from the Jesica Lang movie but I could be wrong, either way its gone now |
