For all the joy he has brought into our lives, as fans, I wish him best of everything.

Shatner Not Invited To Takei's Wedding

Nimoy, Koenig, Nichols To Attend Actor's Wedding To Partner

POSTED: 9:52 am EDT June 3, 2008, UPDATED: 10:32 am EDT June 3, 2008

George "Sulu" Takei has revealed his plans to wed his longtime companion -- but his former Star Trek co-star, William Shatner, will not be a part of it.

Takei told AP Radio that when he weds Brad Altman on Sept. 14, Walter Koenig, who played Chekhov in Star Trek, will be the best man and Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura, will be the matron of honor. Leonard "Spock" Nimoy is also invited, but Shatner, who played Captain Kirk, is not.

Well, now I want to know what words, what forum, and why have I already forgotten them?? Shocked

I guess Mr. Takei can invite who he wants, but sour grapes and wedding cake are a poor combination.

I still want my cake, though. A slice with no fruit, please.

oh, I hate to be pedantic; the forum was the WS roast where WS went ape on George about his life style. Totally uncalled for and toatally cruel and just underscored the years of animosity between the two.

And before you refute this, I've been to enough conventions and read enough about this which George and others confirmed.

Yeah, after 40 years of George, Nichelle, Walter and Jimmy being basically mean, viscious and spitful about Bill, it's time he said something back !!!

They were minor actors in a TV series, who have either had continuing minor careers, or only gained employment through attendance at Trek events. Jealousy is one of human beings nastier emotions.

It's the fans at past conventions treating them as practically "A" listers which has contributed to this hugh ego trip they have, whereby they equate themselves as supposedly having the same billing, rights and input to the series as the top three. Memory can be a wonderfully deceptive thing. Bill has never tried to give the impression he was a saint, he was a lead actor in a series, working more hours per week than all of them, committed to doing his job. Yes, he undoubtedly made mistakes, we all do but most of us are lucky our past co-workers do not gain an international profile from which to lambast us and spread possibly libellous comments !!

I was on the committee of a very successful UK convention for over 20 years and we have had all but one of these as guests, some on more than one occasion. It took a great deal of stength from me not to give them an earful, or deck them with some of their comments, which I knew for a fact to be completely untrue and were being said to the fans to deliberately make Bill look bad and to boast their own ego's!!! Eventually, they were warned to keep such comments to themselves and behave in a more seemly and grown up manner.

The idea that George being gay was a secret is stupid and if he wants to get married, all the best for him. Who he invites to his wedding is entirely up to him and his partner but yet again, he has used a personal event to have a go at Bill. The guy is so sad !

I wish he and his partner all the best for their future and congratulate them for being together for so long. A major achievement, anyone now a days should be justifiably proud of.

However, given all of that, if cake is being passed around, can I choose the part with Kirk on. I've always wanted to take a bite out of Kirk's sweet cheeks !! Embarassed Shocked and I leave it entirely up to you and your own personal sensibilities to decide which cheeks I mean !! Wink

From New York Post TV Blog...

'Sulu' Disses Capt. Kirk

Captain Kirk

By DAVID K LI, June 04; Posted by Jackie Strause on June 4, 2008 04:34 PM

William Shatner isn't on George Takei's wedding guest list, but Capt. Kirk still sends his best.

"No, we have not been in touch [with George Takei and his soon-to-be husband] but I wish the happy couple all the best. George deserves a moment of happiness," Shatner said in prepared statement yesterday, hours after The Post published a story about Takei's matrimonial snub.

Takei and long-time boyfriend Brad Altman are tying the knot in L.A. in September. Lt. Uhura [actress Nichelle Nichols] is slated to be the matron of honor, Ensign Chekhov [Walter Koenig] will be the best man and Mr. Spock [Leonard Nimony] is on the guest list -- a Star Trek heavy roll call that conspicuously left off Shatner.

I just love Bill when he's at his classy best. He's got it in him when he wants to show it. Bravo.
