Two pieces of dinosaur dung have been sold at auction for $960 (£486) at an auction house in New York.

The fossilised dung, which resembles rock on the outside, and a colourful mineral inside, is 130 million years old, from the Jurassic period.

Auctioneers Bonhams of New York said it sold for twice the expected price. The buyer is reported to be Steve Tsengas, the 71-year-old owner of a company that sells products to treat pet animal waste in Ohio. "Poop is big business in the pet industry," he is quoted as saying by AP. Shocked Shocked

Thoughts?

I think it's appropriate. Pet waste company owner owning petrified dino poo. It goes together. I imagine he'll use it as a doorstop or a paperweight. He can take it home and put it on his coffee table as a conversation piece. I wouldn't mind owning it. But that's too much money for a piece of poo.

Or, Wilma's necklace.
Seriously, how do they tell the difference between dino poo and a simple rock? Couldn't someone just pick up a rock, call it that and sell it for a big price?

Now you know the truth behind waste disposal. They're burying it as an investment for the future. Wink

I guess they didn't have a "curb your pets" bylaw back then.
