Actor Jackie Chan led celebrations as the Olympic Torch ended its first day on the Chinese mainland. "I'm very excited," he said in the city of Sanya in Hainan province. "I hope we can spread a message of peace to the world."
A very happy and proud Jackie ran in the Olympic torch relay in Sanya, South China on Sunday, May 4th. The relay in Sanya was the beginning of the torch run through Mainland China, and Jackie was the last of the runners at Sanya. The relay concluded at the scenic Tianya Haijiao, where Jackie and town representative Pu Huifang kindled the Olympic cauldron. After running, Jackie led a lion dance and performed a moving rendition of Olympic theme song "We Are Ready." There were also performances by Karen Mok, Wang Feng, Sun Yan Zi, Alexander Lee Hom Wang, and Emil Chau.
