Sometimes when I am on the BBS at weird times during the day, there's no one else here, and I think about what all of you might be doing. So I thought maybe we could start a thread about something that happened to you during the day.
Could be something random, fun, sad, etc. Just something that happened that you wanted to share.
Sounds sort of dorky, I know. But maybe it'll be a way we can get to know a little more about each other.
So what did you do today?

I watched my neice & nephews in the morning so my sister could visit our aunt in the hospital. She had a hysterectomy because of cancer, but everything seems to have turned out OK, and this afternoon I helped my uncle get her home.
Took Bridget to the Dr's 'cause I thought she had strep. She didn't. Took a ride, and now am making pork chops on the grill.
Tonight I'm looking forward to watching House.

OK your turn. What did you do today?

I'm glad your aunt seems to be okay. I'll sure say a prayer that the surgery removed all the cancer. And it was sweet of you to watch your sister's kids so she could visit your aunt.

Blah, all I've done today so far is work around the office, with some laundry and cleaning thrown in. Not very exciting! I did take a break to go and pick up some mochas from the local coffee shop. Coffee ~ it's the reason I get up each morning. Very Happy

Are you sure you want to know what people around here are really up to?? Wink

Shocked

got woken up at 5:45 am by Hannah's alarm so she could go fishing with her boyfriend. she stayed here long enough to do laundry.
She left , I got back up at 9 am after falling back asleep on the couch...did some dishes and ate my breakfast.

Waited for Samantha to come home from the hospital with her Dad as Sammy had an over night EEG as she's been out of sorts neurologicly. I then tried all day to get some help for school for Samantha as the High school here is already giving me the run around about putting her in the school with all her problems. No one called me back and now I am a bit mad about it and she will now not being going to school untill I get some help which will take a few weeks after school has started!!! Evil or Very Mad

got some more work done on my Star Wars Sand trooper armor and fixed some weak spots on it.

Very Happy worked on a project for some one who wants some christmas items from me the I am making by hand. i am hoping they will pay me fr it when I am done.

Made dinner (Tuna and noodles) and now I am on here. i had been on the PC off and on all day and Steve is right not a lot of people are not on here during the day.

I will be on here more at night as the beer and soda cans at the baseball diamonds are gone. (games are over).

Eleanor had breast cancer two years ago, and being a retired oncology nurse, she was vigilant about keeping up with her three month check ups.
When the blood tests came back badly a few weeks ago, she was diagnosed ASAP, and they had her in for surgery immediatly. The doctors seem to think that with the early diagnosis, there is an excellent chance that it didn't metastisize, and that this could be the end of this round. There will be some chemo, but not as bad as the first time around. This is a good thing as she is 74 years old.
Hey, my sister's kids are great, in small doses. I was never one for babies, but her boys are 6 & 4, and they like to play football on the lawn. As for my neice, she's 2, and I have a houseful of girls.....no brainer there. Laughing
Thanks for the prayers, always welcome.

Wednesday, Aug 13.
It is 7:35 EST here in Florida. I am getting ready to start my day. I will tell you about yesterday.

Yesterday was a scrambled day of sorts. Over the weekend, we did a "check exchange" with my parents. We had an electric bill due by Monday or else we would get our power cut. That would not be fun as I work from home and rely on keeping my computer up and running. We had just gotten between a rock and a hard place. The bill was due Monday, and my paycheck wouldn't be desposited into my account until Friday. Bummer. The power company was being very hard nosed about it too.

Oh well, back to yesterday. Bob and asked for an advance on his fellowship from the college and got it. The only problem is, they mailed him a check rather than E-deposit it. The check arrived yesterday (Tue).
He took it to the bank right away and I called my folks to let them know.

OK, so much for money woes.

I got up yesterday at 7:45am, did my "Walk away the pounds" routine, made breakfast, and got ready for work. Started work at 10:00am and finished at 6:00pm. After work, I started dinner and waited for Bob to come home from the college. When he came home, we ran up to the store for a few needed items (I don't know which is worse: having power cut off or running out of T-paper Shocked )

Over the past several evenings, Bob and I have been watching the Star Wars movies from beginning to end. Last night was the last one. We may watch the "Lord of the Rings" movie series next. I know, we have seen them a dozen times, but they are always interesting and I always seem to catch something I hadn't noticed before.

Today should go smoothly. I will start work at 10:00 and again, finish by 6:00pm. I may work some midnight shifts this weekend to build up our emergency funds again so we don't have this problem again.

So much for my day. I need to stop now and go do my exercises and get breakfast made. I do sometimes stop by here during my break, and since I work from home, I don't have to worry about cubicle neighbors peeking over my shoulder.

Have a wonderful day folks! Cool

Sounds like Eleanor has really been through a lot. I'm glad that her past profession kept her aware of the need to keep on top of things. I sure wish her well.

Hmmm, at least no one has confessed to doing anything illegal yet, or of keeping someone locked in their basement......... Wink

Wait..........what have you heard? Shocked Wink

Well, it's noon here, and I have been up since 7. I went to an early AA meeting, then rode over to the school and met with the Dean about the upcoming semester. It's a beautiful day here and a great day to ride the bike.
Just stopped home to check in on the kids and get something to eat. Now I'm on my way out again to grocery shop for my aunt & uncle. When I get back I have to get over to the recycle center. Then I have to get back here and get the kids to pack for our trip to VA this weekend.
Sometimes I feel like I'm busier out of work than I was when I was working. Very Happy Very Happy
Hope everyone's having a great day.
Talk later....

Lunch break here. I processed calls this morning for a shipping company. B2B calls. This afternoon, I change hats and process calls for an ordering company. I will feel sort of like an actor reading advertising scripts. Cool

Hey, ya hear that Hollywood? Maybe, I could get a job as a product spokesperson. Bill, don't suppose you could use a "Ms Nobody from Nowhere USA to be in an ad for Priceline do you? After all, we all know that you never use the service yourself. How about a real, old fashioned po-folk? Cool

Well, it wasent a case of locking some one in your basement it waa case of BEING locked in the basement.... Embarassed

it wasent my fault as my Dad and 'I were putting in some wiring a while ago and he had to shut the basement door for a minute. A few minutes later i heard his muffled voice tell me he had to go get another part and he'd be right back... a few seconds later he left,,in the truck!!!....I had to go potty so i went to open the door and I couldn't get it open!!!!

The basement door was one of those trap door doors and the thing weighs about 100 pounds as it's solid wood and exremely heavy!!! I tried to push up on it and i couldn't get it up!!

Evil or Very Mad

I was stuck down there for an hour before my Dad and the kids came back (they tagged along with him to make sure he got the right part Wink )

Talk about doing the potty dance for an hour down there i about ran them over after they pried the door open..... Embarassed

I then had a safety latch put on the door and also bolted it open to the wall so it can;t be shut. I now make sure if I have to go inthe basement that I have a cell phone with me if I am alone so if i get stuck I can call some one...My basement looks like the Munsters family basement...all cobwebby, damp and dirt floor...I wouldn't be surprised to see Spot down there or Igor thier pet bat... Shocked Very Happy

Locked in the cellar? Oh man, claustrophobia would of taken me over. My OCD doesn't allow me alot of room to deal with situations where I'm not in control. I always have have an escape route. I would of gone insane!

Well, the rest of my day was pretty mundane. I got home from recycling and grocery, and was going to watch some YouTube stuff, and then I found out that my headphones had died on one side. Evil or Very Mad

So I got back on the bike and went to Walmart. Mary needed replacement headphones for her IPod anyway, so I got 2 sets.
Being as we're going to be in the car for 6 hours on Friday, it's easier to get the new earphones than deal with her bothering me all the way down there. And I bought socks....

Now I am marinating chicken breasts, and I have to go clean the grill. Bridget has a couple of friends over, so I'm cooking for a whole crew.
Wow, my life is really boring now that I see it in print!
How's everyone else doing this fine day?

Well, I went to see my Dad who has just got out of hospital. he lives 70 miles away and I went by train. On the way there I was sitting reading my book when 2 rather smelly people got on opposite me. Dilemma, can I move without making it obvious? After a couple of wafts I was past caring and did move and found myself sitting next a charming French post-grad student.
My day for smells as on the way back I was opposite this student who spent all journey back eating a tuna salad that annoyance was dwarfed by the 2 train-spotters who tried loudly (and in vain) to think of a station on the whole of mainland Europe that neither one had visited. Lists of trains servicing those stations followed. why oh why do the nutters always sit next to me? Answers on a postcard please!
Other than that had a nice day and it was good to see that my father is improving.

Shocked

Well I am taking some stuff back to Wal-Mart as I need some money as the bills sucked up all the child support I finally got and I have $4.00 left out of $224.49 I hopefully will get child support on time next friday the 23rd but until then if I get my $30. back at Wally world that will have to last till next friday.

Then this morning Hannah has been having problems again and will go for blood tests tomorrow and a possible transfusion if her blood level has fallen below 10.0....so if I'm not on here tomorrow i may be in the Ottawa Reginal hospital tomorrow with my oldest having a blood transfusion.

i did get the house cleaned today and the kitchen cleaned...

the only bad thing was that Samantha got her pet Orange Ghost shrimp for the pet shop and she went to cut the bag to put it in the fresh water tank she has and the water went all over the counter and it rolled into the drawer where i have all the bills Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So I spent about 2 hours picking stuck wet bills apart with out tearing them and drying them off and putting them in envelopes.

Now dinner looms and i also have to take Sammy to church for youth prayers and meeting.

See you all later!

Hey Sue, what's up with your dad? Why was he in the hospital? Is everything OK?
Pippa, maybe your daughter and Diana could come over to my place and help with the house cleaning..... Laughing Seriously, I've been avoiding the whole house thing as we are getting ready to go away and I'll have to deal with it when I get back anyway. I'm sure the dogs and cats will have a field day around here, and I'll have a job cut out for me when I get back. They love their pet sitter, but make life miserable for me when I'm not here.
Cat, always glad to hear from you. Got any fresh coffee?
SMB, good luck with the Priceline pitch~! Laughing And I do hope that your financial situation improves soon. I've been there and done that enough to know how frustrating it can be.
Diana, sorry to hear that Hannah is having problems again, here's praying that they get that all straightened out.
I should be on IM later on if you are around, but that's if Bridget's friends get picked up at a decent time. You never know around here.
Hey, just thinking guys, if you want this thread to continue, I'll be away from the comp for about a week starting Friday afternoon, but if you keep it going, that would be great. If not, we'll just let it die. My sister has a laptop at the house, but it's her work comp, and I don't want to ask to use it. I'll try to get to the library to check in, but you never know.
I enjoy reading about everyone's day though.
Peace, Steve
