I rarely need to get on the highway and generally do not need to travel more than 12 km from home.

I wish I could get a car like that but I hit the highway waaaay too often... 25mph is just not enough... |

Well, that's just it. I don't. My husband does and he drive a Ford Focus.
My daughter, age 19, uses my car because she needs to be in 3 places each day (she goes to college in the morning, trains at one arena in the afternoon, and coaches in the evening....)
But for me, I have one light and two speed bumps on my way to the office for a total 6 minute drive. Yes, I could bike it... but I usually wear a skirt and heels to work.

McCain hasn't said how long he would keep fighting to reach that demanding goal. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of McCain's closest Senate allies, recently said he thinks that McCain would maintain current U.S. troop levels in Iraq through his entire four-year presidential term if military commanders recommended that course to maintain stability there.

Looks like Obama is doing a lot better than I predicted today. He will finish today with many more Delegates than Clinton.
I was amazingly close in Indiana and its getting closer all the time.

Something that should be considered is that Oregon has yet to have their Democratic Primary election yet. To call the race before a portion of the country has yet to cast their ballots indicates that their votes are not important. Maybe we can hold off on calling the race until everyone has had a chance to cast their votes, and make their voices heard?  |

Just did a calculation, Clinton would now need to win 85% of the remaining votes and delegates, just to catch up with Obama.

There is some amazing spin coming out at the moment, its almost commical some of it but some gets me wondering (the people watcher I am)
Clinton says Obama does not do well with Middle Class white voters (while she doe not do well with everyone else ) but I wonder how true statements like these are, how do you compare something like this,
Is it that once she is not there they will refocus and vote Obama anyway. Are many voting for her to ensure it is difficult for Obama (keep the black guy out) and then will the same people vote McCain anyway (to keep the women out).
Do whole groups in society all vote the same, I don't think so, comments like that really are not giving people in certain demographic groups much credit.
Once this contest is over everyone will take a deep breath and vote based on a whole new set of issues and reasons,
An interesting commentry came out about Indiana, it has been sugested that up to 70,000 Republican voters voted for Clinton to weaken the Democratics process, if this is remotely correct then her win by 20,000 votes is in reality a loss by 50,000. Makes you think, are these the same people saying if Obama wins they wont vote for him, if Clinton wins the same people most likely wont vote for her either in the main event.
You can see why for a political watcher like me the US election process is a facinating side line. |

Of the Democratic presidential candidates, would Republican John McCain rather take on Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton?
"You know, Ron Paul is still in the race," McCain joked Wednesday during a taping of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
McCain deadpanned about the marathon race between the Democrats: "I hate to watch it. It's terrible. My heart goes out to them."
During the taping, McCain pretended to walk off the set when Stewart pressed him on whether President Bush is more of a liability for him than the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is for Obama. Then McCain fiddled with his microphone and mouthed "technical difficulties" into the camera.
The all-but-certain Republican nominee did reveal a few tidbits. His Secret Service code name, he thinks, "is 'jerk,'" and his choice for a vice presidential running mate is Dwight Schrute, a character on the NBC sitcom, "The Office," played by Rainn Wilson.
Comedy aside, McCain used the opportunity to challenge Obama, who moved a step closer to claiming the Democratic nomination after Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. Stewart asked whether McCain really believed the Islamic terrorist group Hamas had endorsed Obama. McCain's campaign issued a fundraising letter after a Hamas adviser, Ahmed Yousef, said the group likes Obama.
"It's indicative of how some of our enemies view America," McCain said. "And I guarantee you, they're not going to endorse me."
Off camera, Obama's campaign said McCain should apologize for "repeating tired and divisive attacks about Barack Obama that he knows are flat-out untrue."
