well, as soon as my lease is up (and maybe sooner) I hope to get a ZENN car.

http://www.zenncars.com/

I rarely need to get on the highway and generally do not need to travel more than 12 km from home.

Gas Tax cuts wil make little or no difference, the Petrol Stations won't pass the whole savings on, generally only 50% because they are privatly owned and do it tough as well, the Gas company will increase the cost of fuel to offset the tax Hillary wants to mpose on them and at best you might save $0.05 a gallon. This will cost you 8 Billion in road works and projects that if completed will in itself most likely save more fuel in more efficient road systems.

Australia tried the Tax Cut thing and it made no difference.

What would help is encouraging the development of more fuel efficient cars and getting Americans out of their Pick Up Trucks and into something that makes a lot more sence. American fuel prices are not high, they have just been to low for to long, we pay twice what you do and drive a not further each year. I drive 65,000km on average each year.

Well, that's just it. I don't. My husband does and he drive a Ford Focus.

My daughter, age 19, uses my car because she needs to be in 3 places each day (she goes to college in the morning, trains at one arena in the afternoon, and coaches in the evening....)

But for me, I have one light and two speed bumps on my way to the office for a total 6 minute drive. Yes, I could bike it... but I usually wear a skirt and heels to work.

McCain hasn't said how long he would keep fighting to reach that demanding goal. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of McCain's closest Senate allies, recently said he thinks that McCain would maintain current U.S. troop levels in Iraq through his entire four-year presidential term if military commanders recommended that course to maintain stability there.

Full Article

Despite his rocky relations with the right, McCain's record on their top priorities — cultural issues like abortion — is very conservative,

While he did say once in 1999 that Roe v. Wade should not be overturned, that amounted to a blip in an otherwise unbroken record of opposing abortion rights for women. McCain has repeatedly voted against federal funding for abortion and has opposed federal Medicaid funds for abortion even in cases of rape or incest.

OH DEAR....

Looks like Obama is doing a lot better than I predicted today. He will finish today with many more Delegates than Clinton.

I was amazingly close in Indiana and its getting closer all the time.

Game over.

Something that should be considered is that Oregon has yet to have their Democratic Primary election yet. To call the race before a portion of the country has yet to cast their ballots indicates that their votes are not important. Maybe we can hold off on calling the race until everyone has had a chance to cast their votes, and make their voices heard? Confused

Well my prediction was reasonably close for Indiana where Obama did a little better than I expected

ASB Predicted

Indiana

Obama 48.5 Clinton 51.5

Actual Result

Obama 49.1 Clinton 50.9

Delegates Likely

Obama 35 Clinton 37

North Carolina

ASB Predicted

Obama 54.8 Clinton 45.2

Actual Result

Obama 57.5 Clinton 42.5

Delegates Likely

Obama 66 Clinton 49

Total Delegates Likely

Obama 101 Clinton 86

Obama wins 15 more Delegates overall six better than I had predicted.

Not bad though for an aussie. I got closer than most of the so called experts on Fox and CNN

Just did a calculation, Clinton would now need to win 85% of the remaining votes and delegates, just to catch up with Obama.

Not going to happen

There is some amazing spin coming out at the moment, its almost commical some of it but some gets me wondering (the people watcher I am)

Clinton says Obama does not do well with Middle Class white voters (while she doe not do well with everyone else ) but I wonder how true statements like these are, how do you compare something like this,

Is it that once she is not there they will refocus and vote Obama anyway. Are many voting for her to ensure it is difficult for Obama (keep the black guy out) and then will the same people vote McCain anyway (to keep the women out).

Do whole groups in society all vote the same, I don't think so, comments like that really are not giving people in certain demographic groups much credit.

Once this contest is over everyone will take a deep breath and vote based on a whole new set of issues and reasons,

An interesting commentry came out about Indiana, it has been sugested that up to 70,000 Republican voters voted for Clinton to weaken the Democratics process, if this is remotely correct then her win by 20,000 votes is in reality a loss by 50,000. Makes you think, are these the same people saying if Obama wins they wont vote for him, if Clinton wins the same people most likely wont vote for her either in the main event.

You can see why for a political watcher like me the US election process is a facinating side line.

McCain jokes about rivals with comedian Jon Stewart
May 8, 2008, 7:23 AM EST
Of the Democratic presidential candidates, would Republican John McCain rather take on Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton?

"You know, Ron Paul is still in the race," McCain joked Wednesday during a taping of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

McCain deadpanned about the marathon race between the Democrats: "I hate to watch it. It's terrible. My heart goes out to them."

During the taping, McCain pretended to walk off the set when Stewart pressed him on whether President Bush is more of a liability for him than the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is for Obama. Then McCain fiddled with his microphone and mouthed "technical difficulties" into the camera.

The all-but-certain Republican nominee did reveal a few tidbits. His Secret Service code name, he thinks, "is 'jerk,'" and his choice for a vice presidential running mate is Dwight Schrute, a character on the NBC sitcom, "The Office," played by Rainn Wilson.

Comedy aside, McCain used the opportunity to challenge Obama, who moved a step closer to claiming the Democratic nomination after Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. Stewart asked whether McCain really believed the Islamic terrorist group Hamas had endorsed Obama. McCain's campaign issued a fundraising letter after a Hamas adviser, Ahmed Yousef, said the group likes Obama.

"It's indicative of how some of our enemies view America," McCain said. "And I guarantee you, they're not going to endorse me."

Off camera, Obama's campaign said McCain should apologize for "repeating tired and divisive attacks about Barack Obama that he knows are flat-out untrue."

It's gonna get more DIRTY out there...

Your post reminds me of a Damned song!
Drinkin' 'bout my baby
I'm drinking about her all the time!
Thinkin', I'm drinkin'...

I think Captain Sensible plays the lead guitar solo on that song. No, wait! I think it was Rat Scabies. Forgive me, that song is like, over 20 years old. It was on the Black Album, which was much different from the Beatles White album except they're both British.

That reminds me of an old 19th century joke:

Question: What is the difference between William Henry Harrison and James Garfield?
Answer: Nothing! They were both carpetbagging scalawags who enjoyed a hefty plate of lasagna!

Now this is something you can record on those fancy telegramophone machines they have connected to the telegraph machines...stop. That is all for now...stop. I'm thoroughly bamboozeled by my lack of train of thought, stop.
